Boon-Curtis-Carey Family Cemetery is at the Pickens Presbyterian Church, State Highway 130, Pickens County, S.C., originally in Oconee County, SC then switched to Pickens County, SC. Highway 130 runs parallel to Lake Keowee's eastern bank in a North to South direction. The Cemetery is a small family cemetery within the Pickens Presbyterian Church Cemetery, located on Main Street of Seneca, S.C. and south of the Keowee Dam (Clemson University is nearby).

A requisition form signed by Sgt. BOONE is in the file. It is for corn/fodder for 19 horses in the public services, 7 March 1864.

L.D. (Lawrence DeCody) Bailey is listed in the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Pension Roll Pickens County, Alabama as number 20375. L.D. a Pickens County resident enlisted on 6 March 1861, at Viannce, Alabama at the age of 24. He served the Confederate States in Company B, Lane Guards, 42nd Regiment, Alabama under the Commander: Captain Thomas C. Lanier. L.D. was wounded at the battle of Correnth(Corinth) in the State of Mississippi between the 3 and 4 of October 1862. A private L.D.'s enlistment was for 12 months, one year.

The Forty-Second Alabama Infantry participated in at least 37 engagements between 3 October 1862 - 26 April 1865; L.D. was wounded at the very first engagement. Like almost all Civil War units the Forty-Second Alabama Infantry was often known by an alternate designation derived from the name of its commanding officer. Therefore, the alternate name for the regiment that L.D. Bailey served with is Thomas C. Lanier's Infantry.

L.D. was grandfather to Mary Edna Bailey Marble, our grandmother. Grandmother Mary Bailey once said of her grandfather that he would spend a great deal of time reading from the Bible.
