Article One NAME
The formal name of the club shall be the Boeing Wind Riders Windsurfing Club, however, the name "Boeing Wind Riders" shall be used informally and in club communications. For the sake of brevity in this document, the term "the club" shall be taken to mean the above-named club. The club is an unincorporated nonbusiness, nonprofit organization.
Article Two OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of the club is to enhance of each members enjoyment of the sport of windsurfing through the creation and maintenance of a community of friends of like interest.
Ancillary Objectives include:
To collect and disseminate information of interest to clubmembers,
To plan and conduct outings to sailing venues of interest,
To plan and conduct other social events pursuant to the primary objective,
To reach out and welcome new members into the club and the sport, and
To assist in each members technical advancement in the sport such that his/her enjoyment is enhanced.
Article Three MEMBERSHIP
Persons interested in the objectives of the club shall be eligible for membership without regard to any discriminant such as race, skin color, religious belief, national origin, gender, sexual preference, educational level, age, smoking, or windsurfing experience level. At least 50% of the membership shall be Boeing employees.
Article Four OFFICERS
Club officers shall consist of a President, Vice President/Secretary, Treasurer/Membership officer, Information officer, Outings Committee Chairman and Education and Training Committee Chairman. Club committee participation and membership shall be open to all members. Election of club officers shall be on an annual basis. Officers can serve any number of successive terms.
Article Five ACTIVITIES
All activities of the club shall be in accordance with the club by-laws and in support of the club Objectives as stated in Article Two, above.
Article Six HEADQUARTERS
Headquarters of the club shall be at the Boeing Recreation Office at C1 in Long Beach.
Article Seven AMENDMENTS
This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of members in good standing who choose to participate in the vote. The club officers are responsible for notifying the membership of an impending election, and significant issues to be resolved. Resolutions for amendment of this Constitution may be submitted by any member in good standing for ratification. This Constitution, and any amendment thereto must satisfy Boeing Recreation Office guidelines and is subject to approval by same.
Article Eight ASSOCIATION WITH NATIONAL AND/OR REGIONAL BOARDSAILING ORGANIZATIONS
The club membership shall, by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote determine if, and to what extent, the club shall support any national/regional/local boardsailing or other organizations that are appropriate to the objectives of the club, as stated in Article Two, above. The club president or his/her designee shall act as the principal spokesperson and representative in these organizations.
