OLIVIA LOSES IT ALL!
Fan response (in terms of nominations) to the scenes surrounding Olivia losing her children this week were unmatched. And rightly so. Lesley-Anne Down, Kam Heskin, and Randy Spelling were heartbreaking.
Olivia's children (Caitlin and Sean) decided that it was best to take Trey and leave for Europe in search of Cole so that Trey wouldn't have to be raised by an alcoholic. They were confronted by Olivia, who couldn't believe what they were trying to do to her, and fought with her emotions over wanting them to stay and knowing they were right. She finally gave in and allowed them to go, breaking down in tears.
Wednesday and Thursday were can't-miss days as this drama unfolded in the Richards household. Tears flowed like rivers on both sides of the screen when Livvy hugged her three babies goodbye and then screamed for them to leave before she changed her mind, then again when she ran to the doorway crying. And on Friday, Lesley and Lucy Rodriguez (Rose) were outstanding again when Rose offered to help a down-and-out Livvy. I can't tell you how many people have said that they cried when Olivia stumbled toward the stairs holding the bottle after she said she was beyond help.
This week, three Moment nominations were recieved for these scenes, along with a whopping NINE Spotlight nominations for Lesley-Anne Down, all of which can be found below.
From Denise:
Hi, I have a suggestion about this week's moment.
My nomination is when Caitlin, Sean, Trey and Olivia said good-bye... it made me cry (literally). It was a very moving scene. Lesley-Anne Down did a great job, and so did Kam Heskin and Randy Spelling. I think it's the best moment in a long time. (Just stating my opinion.)
From Opal:
I think it should either be, the realy sweet scene with tobias/gregory talking to the drunk and passed out olivia,
or the scene where olivia says goodbye to her children, and gives trey the teddy bear. that just about had me crying...
From Lucinda Angell:
Because this week has been so emotinal for Olvia and she has made
everything so belivable, When she cries you want to cry with her shes so good. I think she should be in the spot light shes the best!
From D. L. Roberts:
The scene in which Caitlin was leaving with Trey was so emotional.. You could see the hurt and depair all over Olivia face..She is a Great actress!!
From Alison Zerbo
I felt that the scences on Thursday (December 2), where the Richards children left, was very well acted on all parts. Most specifically, it was very moving, seeing Olivia let her children leave her. For months now I hadn't been liking Olivia, but seeing that scence reminded me why I had liked her. She really loves her children, all of them, not just Trey.
From Moe:
She was absolutely fabulous for the week of 11/29 to 12/3. Playing the drunken woman on the first day was hysterical, yet sad. But then when she continued to drink on the second day - her entire world fell apart before her eyes and she didn't care one bit. To see the look of pain and horror on everyone else's face - yet Olivia stayed cool, but inebriated was unbelievable. Lesley-Anne has always been able to bring the viewing audience to a new level, when she is given the proper material. But the cherry on the cake was watching her give up her son Trey, knowing that it was what would be best for him. The anguish on Olivia's face said it all ... Do I love the drink or my child more? We think we know the answer to that one, but we don't. To actually watch her utterly fall apart as her children one by one walk out on her, maybe forever, was so moving and touching to watch. Remember, she is having a little extra help with the alcohol addiction right now, so all is not what it appears to be.
From Brenda:
Lesley-Anne Down is a really great actress. She's awesome at
pretending to be drunk.. Its very convincing.
From Michele:
The Richards family had such good material this week (Nov. 29-Dec.3). Even though I don't agree with Caitlin she has her reasons for wanting to take Trey away from her mother. She also talked Sean into going along with her. The flashbacks of their childhood when they had to deal with an alcoholic Olivia was inciteful and sad. It made their choices seem that much more justified. Sean's goodbye to Emily was excellent as well. Randy Spelling has really improved. He was spectacular. And finally when it came time to leave and Olivia paved the way for them to leave, it was nothing short of heartbreaking. Kam Heskin, Randy Spelling and Lesley-Anne Down were amazing.
From Rachel
Olivia Richards: It think that she did a killer performnace on Tuesdays show when Caitlin lesft with Trey. I felt so sprry for her I cried.
From Bobo:
Thursday's episode, Dec. 2, proved just how wrong SOD was for
ignoring the great talent Sunset Beach has. Lesley Anne Down once again pulled off an amazing and heartfelt performance as she said goodbye to her three children. It was convincing and truly memorable and without stealing the scene from her co-stars(also excellent) Kam Heskin and Randy Spelling.
