ALPHA DELTA KAPPA

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANT:

 

*REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS (For Alpha Delta Kappa members only) — The Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation annually allocates each region $3,000 to fund two Regional Professional Development Scholarships. However, the amount awarded cannot exceed the applicant's estimated expenses. The Regional Professional Development Scholarships are awarded on the basis of "merit" rather than "need." The program is for advanced study or a project in connection with a degree program. Applications are available from the Alpha Delta Kappa password-protected Website or from the Regional Scholarship Programs Committee chairman in each region. Each chapter president has the name and address of the Regional Scholarship Programs Committee chairman in her region. The completed application and one copy must be returned to your Regional Scholarship Programs Committee chairman "Priority Mail — Delivery Confirmation" and one copy via regular mail to International Headquarters postmarked by January 31.

*REGIONAL MINI-SCHOLARSHIPS (For Alpha Delta Kappa members only) — Under the umbrella of t Regional Professional Development Scholarships, International annually gives each region $3,000 to distribute to members in good standing, whether actively engaged in teaching or not, who apply to attend personal or professional continuing education programs. Graduate and/of doctoral studies are beyond the scope of this program. The maximum scholarship is $300. Brochures containing applications are available from the Regional Scholarship Programs Committee chairman in each region, state/provincial/national and chapter presidents, on the password-protected portion of the Alpha Delta Kappa Website and Headquarters. Applicants shall mail via "Priority Mail — Delivery Confirmation" completed applications original and one copy) to their regional scholarship chairman and one copy of completed application via regular mail or FAX to International Headquarters by the following deadlines: Applications for activities taking place between November 15, and May 15,  must be postmarked no later than October 15; Applications for activities taking place between May 15,  and November 15,  must be postmarked no later than April 15.

*LIVING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP For Alpha Delta Kappa members only) — The Living Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship in the amount of $2,500. The Living Memorial Scholarship program provides an Alpha Delta Kappa member the opportunity for professional growth through traveling away from her home environment and/or studying another culture to promote World Understanding and to expand her knowledge and develop materials to be used in the classroom. The program provides incentive for a member to enrich the lives of her pupils by imparting to them this expanded knowledge in her field of education.   Requests for applications should be made in writing to the Living Memorial Scholarship Chairman Jane H. Kivell, 304 Austin Acres Road, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482 or by accessing the password-protected portion of the Alpha Delta Kappa Website. The completed application and one copy must be returned to the Living Memorial Scholarship chairman via "Priority Mail — Delivery Confirmation" and one copy via regular mail to International Headquarters postmarked by February 15.

*FINE ARTS GRANTS — The Fine Arts Grants are awarded biannually in two categories, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. The next Performing Arts awards will be given in Instrumental Music (Stringed instruments only) and the next Visual Arts awards will be given in Painting (all media). A maximum of on $5,000 first place grant, one $3,000 second place grant and one $1,000 third place grant may be given in each category, and will be paid over a two year period. The grants are for a graduate degree program or a study course.

INTERNATIONAL TEACHER EDUCATION — The ITE scholarship enables as many as seven young women from foreign countries to study for one year in colleges and universities throughout the United States. The applicant must be an unmarried woman with no dependents and at least 20 years of a and no more than 35 years of age.   She must also be a non- U. S. citizen residing outside the United States and must maintain that residency status from the time of application to the awarding of the scholarship. She shall plan to enter the teaching profession or be engaged in the

teaching profession and shall have completed at least one year of college. Doctoral studies are beyond the scope of this program. The next application deadline is January 1,

THE AGNES SHIPMAN ROBERTSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP — In honor of one of our Founders perpetuating endowment administered by the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music awards scholarships for students to study at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Applications may be requested from UMKC, Conservatory of Music, 4949 Cherry, Kansas City, MO 64110.

THE MARIE NEAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP — In honor of one of our Founders, a perpetuating endowment administered by Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas awards an annual scholarship to a young woman choosing to enter the teaching profession. Applications may be requested from Baker University, Baldwin City, KS 66006.

THE ALPHA DELTA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP — To commemorate the organization's 50th anniversary, a perpetuating endowment administered by the Kansas City Art Institute awards scholarships for students to study at the Art Institute. Information may be requested through the Advancement Office, Kansas City Art Institute, 4415 Warwick Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64111.

Texas Beta Lambda Local Chapter Scholarships are presented to members’ children  who are seniors each year at the last meeting of the year and at the different local schools’ programs where they present awards.
