This is a cross between the three count star and the four person pattern, the trapeze. Everyone passes on three count, but one pass in every five is a self.
For the first pass A passes with C and B passes with D:

For the second pass A passes with C and B passes with E:

For the third pass A passes with D and B passes with E:

For the fourth pass A passes with D and C passes with E:

For the fifth pass B passes with D and C passes with E:

Now the whole pattern repeats, but starting with the other hand!
