The wanderer
The wanderer is a self-less feast for an even number of people, juggled
on a four count.
The jugglers stand in a circle. One juggler, the wanderer, changes
places with every other juggler after he has passed with them. The six
person wanderer is described below.
Here's the four person version:
For the first pass, the wanderer, W passes with C and A passes
with B.
Now W and C have three selfs to change places.
Now W passes with B and A passes with C.
Now W and B have three selfs to change places.
Now W passes with A and B passes with C.
Now W and A have three selfs to change places.
And we're back at the start except each juggler has moved one place
around:
Here's how the six person wanderer
works:
For the first pass W passes with A, B passes with E and C passes with
D.
Now W and A have three selfs to change places.
Now W passes with B, A passes with C and D passes with E.
Now W and B have three selfs to change places.
Now W passes with C, A passes with E and B passes with E.
Now W and C have three selfs to change places.
Hopefully you get the idea by now!
The wanderer is a pattern that can be juggled to a finish. Every juggler
passes with every other juggler from every point around the circle. So
when everyone returns to their starting position you can stop juggling
and pat each other on the back! Alternately this could be the point for
another juggler to become the wanderer.
The wanderer can also be done on a three count. |
