· British Board of Trade-ek izendaturiko batzorde batek, 1855ean, 70.000 keinu eukazan Kode bat aurkeztu eban, X eta Z ezik ingeles alfabetoko kontsonanteak itxuratzen ebezan 18 bandera erabiliz.

Kode barri hau, Keinuen Kode Komertziala izenez ezagutua, Board of Tradek argitaratua izan zan 1857an, atal bitan. Lehenengoak nazioarteko keinuak eukazan, eta bigarrenak, ingeles keinuak. Kode hau itsas-herri gehienek hartu eben. 1887an Board of Tradek batzorde barri bat osotu eban kode ha eguneratzeko, Nazioarteko Keinuen Kodea deituz, eta haren erabagien lehen txostena 1889an argitaratu zan. Txosten horretan agertzen ziran proposamenak urte haretan Washingtonen egin zan nazioarteko Batzarrean itsas-herri nagusienengandik eztabaidatuak izan ziran.

· Un comité nombrado por el Ministerio de Comercio británico presentó en 1855 un Código que contenía 70.000 señales, utilizando 18 banderas, que representaban las consonantes del alfabeto inglés, a excepción de la X y de la Z.

El nuevo Código, llamado Código Comercial de Señales, fue publicado por el Board of Trade en 1857, en dos partes. La primera contenía señales internacionales, y la segunda, señales inglesas. Este Código fue adoptado por la mayoría de los países marítimos. En 1887 el Board of Trade nombró un nuevo Comité para ponerlo al día, denominándolo Código Internacional de Señales, cuyo primer informe se publicó en 1889. Las proposiciones que en él figuraban fueron discutidas por las principales potencias marítimas en la Conferencia internacional que se celebró en Washington ese mismo año.

· A committee appointed by the British Board of Trade presented in 1855 a Code that was containing 70.000 signs, using 18 flags, which were representing the consonants of the English alphabet, with the exception of X and of Z.

The new Code, called Commercial Code of Signals, was published by the Board of Trade in 1857, in two parts. The first one was containing international signs, and the second one, English signs. This Code was adopted by the majority of the maritime countries. In 1887 the Board of Trade appointed a new Committee to update it, naming it International Code of Signals, which first report was published in 1889. The propositions that were appearing in it were discussed by the main maritime powers in the international Conference celebrated in Washington the same year.
