No  Vision  is  Necessary

    • "For patience is necessary for you; that, doing the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet a little and a very little while, and he that is to come will come and will not delay. But my just man liveth by faith. ... Now, faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not."
    -- Hebrews 10, 36. 11, 1

IN the life of Saint Cuthbert we read the following passage: "In the kingdom of Northumbria, under the pious King Oswald, the holy Bishop saint Aidan founded two monasteries, that of Melrose, on the river Tweed, and another on the island of Lindisfarne (now called Holy Island). He usually resided in the latter. Saint Cuthbert was born not very far from Melrose, and in his youth was much edified by the devout deportment of the holy inhabitants of Melrose, whose fervor in the service of God, and the discharge of the duties of a monastic life, he fervently endeavored to imitate on the mountains where he kept his father's sheep. It happened, one night, that while he was watching in prayer, near his flock, according to his custom, that he saw the soul of Saint Aidan carried up to heaven by angels, at the very instant that holy man departed this life in the island of Lindisfarne. Serious reflections on the happiness of such a death, determined the pious young man to travel, without delay, to the monastery of Melrose, where he put on the monastic habit."

When we read in the life of Saint Cuthbert and of other saints and mystics of the visions and revelations they had, sometimes we may feel envious about such experiences. Since they saw things so directly, it seems they are closer to God than ourselves, who can only see these truths in an indirect manner.

When the Portavoz [Maria Concepcion Zuniga] died in 1979, no one saw her soul being carried up to heaven. But notwithstanding that, we can know for certain what happened to her after she died.

At that moment she came out of the great tribulation, she washed her robe, and made it white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore she is before the throne of God, serving him day and night in his temple, and the Lamb wipes away all tears from her eyes. — (Apocalypse 7)

She wept so often and had so many crosses to bear, and now all that is ended, and all those verses quoted above are fulfilled, and everlasting joy is on her head.

We do not have to be privileged souls to understand all this: all you have to do is read a few passages in Scripture and meditate some, and you can understand just as well as St. Cuthbert, what happens to the souls of the just after they die.

In the Scriptures is it written: "The just man lives by faith." By means of faith, meditation and prayer, we can have access to the same favors that St. Cuthbert and the other saints had: The more we love God, the more he will reveal his secrets to us, and the more secrets we know, the happier we will be, although some of the secrets are very sad, so sad that they will make you weep. The Portavoz knew many of these intimacies of God, and that is why she had to suffer so much on earth, and why she is so happy in heaven now.

The prophet Isaias made a prophecy about the exiles who were going to return from the Babylonian captivity:

"And the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and shall come into Sion with praise: and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness: and sorrow and mourning shall flee away." (Is. 35, 10).

This life is like a captivity and an exile, and we will not be in our true home, until we are in the heavenly Sion. The Portavoz has now seen the happy fulfillment of this marvelous prophecy: her exile has ended: everlasting joy is upon her head, and her sorrow and mourning have fled away.

May it be for the glory of God

The  Hail  Mary  of  a  Protestant
(A  true  story)

A little six-year-old Protestant boy had often heard his Catholic companions reciting the prayer "Hail Mary." He liked it so much that he copied it, memorized it and would recite it every day. "Look, Mommy, what a beautiful prayer," he said to his mother one day.

"Never again say it," answered the mother. "It is a superstitious prayer of Catholics who adore idols and think Mary a goddess. After all, she is a woman like any other. Come on, take this Bible and read it. It contains everything that we are bound to do and have to do." From that day on the little boy discontinued his daily "Hail Mary" and gave himself more time to reading the Bible instead.

One day, while reading the Gospel, he came across the passage about the Annunciation of the Angel to Our Lady. Full of joy, the little boy ran to his mother and said: "Mommy, I have found the 'Hail Mary' in the Bible which says: 'Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women.' Why do you call it a superstitious prayer?"

On another occasion he found that beautiful Salutation of St. Elizabeth to the Virgin Mary and the wonderful canticle MAGNIFICAT in which Mary foretold that "the generations would call her blessed."
He said no more about it to his mother but started to recite the "Hail Mary" every day as before. He felt pleasure in addressing those charming words to the Mother of Jesus, our Savior.

When he was fourteen, he one day heard a discussion on Our Lady among the members of his family. Every one said that Mary was a common woman like any other woman. The boy, after listening to their erroneous reasoning could not bear it any longer, and full of indignation, he interrupted them, saying:

"Mary is not like any other children of Adam, stained with sin. No! The Angel called her FULL OF GRACE AND BLESSED AMONGST WOMEN. Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ and consequently Mother of God. There is no higher dignity to which a creature can be raised. The Gospel says that the generations will proclaim her blessed and you are trying to despise her and look down on her. Your spirit is not the spirit of the Gospel or of the Bible which you proclaim to be the foundation of the Christian religion."

So deep was the impression which the boy's talk had made that his mother many times cried out sorrowfully: "Oh my God! I fear that this son of mine will one day join the Catholic religion, the religion of Popes!" And indeed, not very long afterwards, having made a serious study of both Protestantism and Catholicism, the boy found the latter to be the only true religion and embraced it and became one of its most ardent apostles.

Some time after his conversion, he met his married sister who rebuked him and said indignantly: "You little know how much I love my children. Should any one of them desire to become a Catholic, I would sooner pierce his heart with a dagger than allow him to embrace the religion of the Popes!"

Her anger and temper were as furious as those of St. Paul before his conversion. However, she would change her ways, just as St. Paul did on his way to Damascus. It so happened that one of her sons fell dangerously ill and the doctors gave up hope of recovery. Her brother then approached her and spoke to her affectionately, saying:

"My dear sister, you naturally wish to have your child cured. Very well, then, do what I ask you to do. Follow me, let us pray one 'Hail Mary' and promise God that, if your son recovers his health, you would seriously study the Catholic doctrine, and should you come to the conclusion that Catholicism is the only true religion, you would embrace it no matter what the sacrifices may be."

His sister was somewhat reluctant at the beginning, but as she wished for her son's recovery, she accepted her brother's proposal and recited the "Hail Mary" together with him. The next day her son was completely cured. The mother fulfilled her promise and she studied the Catholic doctrine. After long preparation she received Baptism together with her whole family, thanking her brother for being an apostle to her.

The story was related during a sermon given by the Rev. Fr. Tuckwell. "Brethren," he went on and said, "the boy who became a Catholic and converted his sister to Catholicism dedicated his whole life to the service of God. He is the priest who is speaking to you now! What I am I owe to Our Lady. You, too, my dear brethren, be entirely dedicated also to Our Lady and never let a day pass without saying the beautiful prayer, 'Hail Mary', and your Rosary. Ask her to enlighten the minds of Protestants who are separated from the true Church of Christ founded on the Rock (Peter) and 'against whom the gates of hell shall never prevail.'"

Practical Norms for Victim Souls, from "Little Souls Booklet" 8 pages.

"It is necessary to withdraw from the vice that has infected everyone at the present time: radio and television. They must have a moderate schedule for this diversion, and not occupy themselves with immoral programs, as most of them are, and err by permitting children to lose their innocence through this wicked diversion." -- (Jan. 10, 1974)

"They must use vocal prayers, although they be little ones, but they will elevate the soul to its God. They would have to have a most intimate filial relationship with my Blessed Mother. The holy family Rosary, communions and visits to my Eucharistic Sacrament, even spiritually, at least, and this during the day and even at night."

"Another sinful thing at present is the decor of the rooms of seculars, where now no place of preference is given to my Sacred Heart nor to the images of my Immaculate Mother, my saints and my angels....The homes of believing seculars are a shame. Let them show with works the faith and love that some of them still claim to have for me." -- (Jan. 10, 1974)

"With respect to the life of perfection, it is just as you have grasped it this morning. Let people be guided by the book written by my very beloved son, Thomas a Kempis. He entitled his writings 'The Imitation of Christ' by an order that I gave him, because he wrote these marvelous pages by the light of my spirit." (Nov. 14, 1973)

"These souls do not need to change their manner of living externally, that is, the married couples in their homes and in the married state, can form a part of my Work of Atonement. The young, who have not chosen a state, or the adults that are still single, those, yes. Let them consecrate themselves completely to giving veneration to my Victim Heart. Let them live united to me, and to consecrated souls. The sick, the professionals, let them live as though fastened to the cross of their duties: let them unite themselves to the
legion of victim souls." (July 17, 1974)

"Read this text (Legion of Victim Souls) with a simple and proper spirit, and I promise to give you the graces
necessary to participate in the Work of Atonement. I, Christ, your Redeemer and Master, promise it to you. This is the last revelation my Victim Heart makes to men. My peace be with all those who believe in my messages given through your mediation. I am honored and served by those who believe me." (Nov. 5, 1973)

“I have given them so many means of communication to rely on, so that My messages, and those of My Blessed Mother, may be spread.” (March 29, 1969)

Revelations of Saint Gertrude
Chapter 5
Of the Wound of Divine Love,
and of the manner of bathing, anointing and binding it up.
Seven years after, a little before Advent, by Thine ordinance, who art the Source of all good, I engaged a certain person to say this prayer every day for me before a crucifix, "O most loving Lord, by Thy pierced Heart, pierce her heart with the arrow of Thy love, so that nothing earthly may remain therein, and that it may be entirely filled with the strength of Thy Divinity." Being moved, as I believe, by these prayers, on the Sunday when they sang the Mass Gaudete in Domino, Thy infinite liberality having permitted me, by an excess of mercy, to approach the Communion of Thy adorable Body and Blood, Thou didst infuse a desire in me when I approached It, which broke forth in these words: "Lord, I am not worthy to receive the least of Thy gifts; but I beseech Thee, by the merits and prayers of all here present, to pierce my heart with the arrow of Thy love." I soon perceived that my words had reached Thy Divine Heart, both by an interior effusion of grace and by a remarkable prodigy which thou didst show me in the image of Thy crucifixion.
After I had received the Sacrament of life and had retired to the place where I pray, it seemed to me that I saw a ray of light like an arrow coming forth from the wound of the right side of the crucifix, which was in an elevated place and it continued, as it were, to advance and retire for some time, sweetly attracting my cold affections. My desire was not entirely satisfied with these things until the following Wednesday, when, after the Mass, the faithful meditated on Thy adorable Incarnation and Annunciation, in which I joined, however imperfectly. Behold, Thou camest suddenly before me, and didst imprint a wound in my heart, saying these words: "May the full tide of your affections flow hither, so that all your pleasure, your hope, your joy, your grief, your fear and every other feeling may be sustained by My love!" I immediately remembered that I had heard a wound should be bathed, anointed and bandaged. Thou didst not teach me then in what manner I should perform these things. Thou didst defer it, to reveal it to me more clearly in the end by means of another person, who had accustomed the ears of her soul to discern far more exactly and delicately than I do the sweet murmurs of Thy love.
She advised me to reflect devoutly upon the love of Thy Heart when hanging on the cross, and to draw from this fountain the waters of true devotion, to wash away all my offences, to take from the unction of mercy the oil of gratitude, which the sweetness of this inestimable love has produced as a remedy for all adversities, and to use this efficacious charity and the strength of this consummate love as a bond of justification to unite all my thoughts, words and works indissolubly and powerfully to Thee. May all the deprivation of those things which my malice and wickedness have caused be supplied through that love whose plenitude abides in Him who, being seated on Thy right hand, has become "bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!" As it is by Him, through the operation of the Holy Spirit, that Thou hast placed in me this noble virtue of compassion, humility and reverence, to enable me to speak to Thee, it is also by Him that I present to Thee my complaint of the miseries I endure, which are so great in number and which have caused me to offend Thy Divine goodness in so many ways by my thoughts, words and actions, but principally by the bad use which I have made of the aforesaid graces, by my unfaithfulness, my negligence and my irreverence. For if Thou hast given to one so unworthy even a thread of flax as a remembrance of Thee, I should have been bound to respect it more than I have done all these favours.
Thou knowest, O my God, from whom nothing is hidden, that the reason why I have written these things, so much against my inclination, is that I have profited so little by Thy liberality that I cannot believe they were made known to me for myself alone, since Thine eternal wisdom cannot be deceived. Grant, then, O Giver of gifts, who hast so freely and unreservedly bestowed them on me, that whoever reads these things may be touched with tenderness and compassion for Thee. Knowing that the zeal which Thou hast for the salvation of souls has induced Thee to leave such royal gems so long in my defiled heart, they may praise, adore and extol Thy mercy, saying with their lips and with their hearts, "Praise, honour, glory and benediction be to Thee, O God the Father, from whom all things proceed," thus to supply for my deficiencies.
Chapter 6
Of the intimate union of the Infant Jesus with her heart. (to be continued)
A Loving Gaze toward the Crucifix
Promise: After touching a crucifix devoutly, St. Gertrude learned that "...if anyone only looks at the image of the Cross of Jesus Christ with a holy intention, God rewards him with such goodness and mercy that he receives in his soul, as in a spotless mirror, an image which is so agreeable, that the whole court of Heaven delights therein, and this serves to increase his eternal glory in the life to come, in proportion as he has practised this act of devotion in this life."

Greater love

God needs our suffering, to be used by virtue of the Communion of Saints, to assist other souls in their redemption.
God sends the heaviest crosses to those He calls His own,
And the bitterest drops of the chalice are reserved for His friends alone.
But the blood red drops are precious, and the crosses are all gain,
For Joy is bought with Sacrifice, and the price of love is Pain.
