I made this page from the memories of my sons
Mark, Chuck, Ed, Jim and Ken, too.

Family Memories

Family memories are stored in the attic,
In scrapbooks and photo albums,
Wrapped in white tissue paper and
Tied together with bright colored ribbon.

Some memories are only words in a book,
For some were not captured in photos
Nor everything written in a scrapbook,
But they are all stored forever in my heart.

Memories of all the happy times,
And of all the sad times too.
All the den meetings and the ballgames,
And of the choir and drama practices too.
The fights and sounds of breaking glass,
And the laughter of playtime.

Memories of all the sick days and nights
All the times I stayed up when one had a fever.
The crying of hurts and peeling of skin off noses
The crying when it was bedtime and
The moaning when it was time to get up again.

The well-worn pages in my scrapbooks
Remind me of all different things.
Favorite recipes are circled there,
And some have a smudge
"This is Mark's favorite"
With a trace of chocolate fudge!

An old recipe of Spanish rice that said
"This is Jimmy's favorite meal,"
Covered with a mustard stain.
Another note read,
"Chuck doesn't like casseroles,
But Eddie eats anything
And Kenny likes everything! "

Now, I am left with loving memories,
Memories of dreams I had for each of them ...
And pray for each of us to live
Our lives according to God's will ...

My children are grown now with families of their own.
Seems like a lifetime ago when they were all small
Where oh where did the time go?
It went away all too fast, which at the time
seemed so slow,
But I'm thankful for each one of them,
And I get to see them often.

I read these quotes on-line and think they say it all:
Mothers hold their children's hands for a while...
And their hearts forever.
Nothing in life is more important than God and your family.
Give them the time they deserve,
Because these things cannot be put off till "some other time. "
