The above quotations are sufficient to make a person
collect stamps. Stamps are not just coloured bits of
paper. They depict and represent pictorially the variety
we encounter in our lives. There are stamps on science,
art, sports, history, literature, personalities and
cartoons. All the outstanding achievements of a country
are depicted on their stamps. |

The royalty has collected stamps. The British Royal
family collection is very famous. The commoner collects
stamps (I do). Anyone of any age can collect these small
items. |

Unlike sports and other hobbies where you have to accept
the rules of the game, here you can tailor your
collection to suit your interest and reflect your
personality. You want to collect stamps on fishes or
birds which is your other hobby go ahead and do it. The
variety and number of stamps on any subject makes
collecting them worthwhile. |

Schools can use stamps as a medium to teach. It is
fascinating how you can make a neat story from these
coloured bits of paper. Refer some of our articles. |
| Finally a note to
parents, if your children are collecting stamps allow and
encourage them to do so. Encourage them to write to
people, attend stamp club meetings, read books on stamps.
Watch what they collect and encourage them to read about
what they collect. Perhaps you will learn something new
in the process. The stamps will broaden your outlook to
life and increase your knowledge. |
