Aleksandar Petresku (Hungarian: Sándor Petőfi) was a Dalmatian of Hungarian ethnicity, and he wrote this poem in 1836. He was the greatest of all Hungarian poets, and he was, and still is, one of the most popular poets in Dalmatia.
