I came to Thailand in 1982 to work in the Panat Nikhom refugee camp, near the city of Chon Buri. In Panat Nikhom beginning in 1981, and continuing for 14 years, refugees from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos were given English and cultural orientation classes before leaving for the United States, Australia, and Canada. Recently one of the Thai people I met in Panat Nikhom invited me to visit Wat Dammajak. I immediately liked the temple. I suggested to the abbot the possibility of a home page. He thought that was a great idea.
I spent one week in the temple in July, 200l. During that time I accompanied the monks on alms round, and otherwise participated in temple life to produce what you see here. The Thai text was written by a monk in the temple. Immediately before being ordained as a monk he had spent several years in Australia obtaining a masters degree in technology management. He was of immense help, as was the abbot.
It was wonderful to stay at the temple and to make this home page. May all beings share in the merit gained by serving the damma.
