| The Story The Fellowship of the Ring begins with the story of the Ring. How Isildur cut it of the hand of Sauron. And how the strenght of men failed when he didn't destroy the Ring in Mount Doom when he had the chance.. Soon after Isildur got killed and the Ring was lost for centuries. Untill the creature Gollem found it (when he found it Gollem's name was Smeogel and he was a hobbit). The Ring held Gollem in it's power and Gollem cald it his 'Precious'. But Gollem lost 'his' Ring and it was found by the most unlikely creature imaginable; A hobbit, Bilbo Baggins from The Shire. Bilbo knows he has the most powerfull Ring of Middle-Earth, but tells no one. Well, after many years Bilbo goes on his way to Rivendell and passes the Ring to Frodo, his nefhew. Gandalf tells him what power the Ring has. But also tells him that he has to run for the enemy who wants the Ring. The evil Lord Sauruman send nine black riders (nazgul, ringwraiths) to get the Ring and will kill whoever carries it. Gandalf tells him to meet him in The Prancing Pony in Bree from where they will travel together to Rivendell. So Frodo runs allong with his gardener Samwise Gamgee. On their way they literally bump into Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybock. And because on that moment they enemy comes they run all together. When they finally arive in Bree at The Prancing Pony, they can't find Gandalf anywhere. (Gandalf was captured by Sauroman) But they do meet another person named Strider.Strider wins their trust and takes them to Rivendell. On their way the are attacked by the Ringwraights and Frodo gets deadly wounded. Strider fights the Ringwraiths and they run. They travel as fast they can to Rivendell. But on their way they meet Arwen, an elf from Rivendell, daughter of Elrond. Arwen takes Frodo and they ride to Rivendell. When Frodo awakes he is safe in Rivendell and meet his friends and Bilbo again and....Gandalf! Bilbo gives Frodo his Elven sword, Sting. Sting turnes blue everytime there's an orc close nearby. And Bilbo gives Frodo his armor which is made of Mithrill. In Rivendell Elrond holds a councill about what should happen with the One Ring. After long discusions they come to the conclusion that the Ring must be destroyed. Frodo volenteers to bring it to Mount Doom. Strider, aka Aragorn, (son of Arathorn, Isildur aire) will help him and also Boromir (human), Legolas (elf), Gimli (dwarf) Gandalf (wizard) and his three friends Sam, Pippin and Merry will follow him. They are called The Fellowship of the Ring. After a long and exhausting road they arive in the mines of Moria. Here Frodo finds out something is following them and Gandalf tell him it is Gollum.. The orcs soon discover the fellowship and attack them. But when the great Balrog comes even the orcs run. Gandalf falls while protecting the fellowship against balrog. They manage to escape the mines and Aragorn takes the lead over. They arrive in Lothlorien and meet the elven queen Galadriel and her husband Celeborn. They stay for a while and when they leave Galadriel gives them usefull and beautifull gifts. With the boots they got from Galadriel they sail over the Anduin (the Great River) and see the Argonath (see background). They arrive in Amon Hen where they rest for a while. While Frodo is wandering in the woods he sees Boromir. Boromir starts to talk to him but soon he wants to take the Ring from Frodo. He needs it for Gondor. Frodo manages to escape. Then they get attacked by a huge group of orcs. Boromir, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli kill as much as they can. Frodo runs back to the boots and climbes in one. He wants to take the Ring alone to Mordor to destroy it But Sam sees him and runs after him. And they leave together to Mordor. In the mean while are the otherz fighting. The two other hobbits, Merry and Pippin, get attacked bij a few orcs but Boromir is right in time to protect them. Boromir blows on his horn so the other come to help him. Two orcs grab Merry and Pippin and while Boromor wants to save them he gets hit by an arrow. But Boromir gets up bravely and keeps fighting. He gets hit by another arrow but he still doesn't give in and keeps fighting... untill he gets hit by a third arrow and he falls down. On that moment Aragorn comes to help him and after a hard fight Aragorn kills the orc. Aragorn holds Boromir in arms and Boromir tells him that the orcs took 'the little ones'. And then he dies in Aragorns arms. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli decide to go after Merry and Pippin. The Fellowship has failed.... |
