The Wedding of William Tompkins Green and Ella Marie Duncan as written by their daughter Gladys Minerva Green McDaniel. The "hotel" referred to in this account was the once grand opera house and hotel of Muscoda, Grant County, WI. Muscoda is located about 20 miles from "Irish Ridge" of Crawford County, WI. Irish Ridge is the site of the "old farm" referred to and is the "homestead of Tompkins and Elizabeth McGrath Green". The spelling and punctuation have been left "as written" by Aunt Gladys. A copy of the original account was kindly shared by Cousin Gladys Phillips Schubert.




The marriage of Father & Mother Green in 1887 They were married at Muscoda Wis by Rev Wright old Gentleman Dr Wrights father a Minister of Muscoda at that time as short good natured old Gentleman. Father and Uncle Chancey Duncan went over tho their home in Muscoda brot him at the Muscoda Hotel There in the parlor of the Hotel they were united in marriage the attendance were Aunt Rebecca Greene Callaway. Uncle Chancey Duncan on the 26th of May. A very warm day sun shining so very warm deep dry dusty roads They drive a team a buggy two seater they rented from Old Mr. Dowlings Uncle Oka Dowlings. father then came here on the old farm of Grandpa & Grandmas. From there they bought a home of their own near there they lived together
