Katashi always wanted to be a warrior, but he needed the training. That's what he got as a paladin -- as much training and as many combat drills as he could have ever hoped for.
After a few months of training to be a paladin, however, he grew sick of it. He found the religion was nothing impressive to him and he couldn't bring himself to believe in it. He still enjoyed the "warrior" part of being a "holy warrior," of course. He just wasn't too keen on the waiting-on-intercourse-until-marriage part of being a paladin. But he couldn't just quit being a paladin. He lacked the magical ability to be a mage and he wanted a more respectable title than "guildman," so this was his only option. So he remained in the order, but kept doing other activities (and several very happy young women) on the side.
Katashi enjoyed the ladies' company, maybe a little too much so. Though he was not tied down, he wasn't exactly "inexperienced" either. He found himself to be more flirtatious around strangers than around friends. That brought him a lot of one night stands, but he knew he was searching for a bit more.
He owns two swords and, being the sort of person to do this, decided to name them. His best sword was named Kenshin, which he held in his right hand. His left hand held the second sword, Katana. Katashi was also skilled with a kunai and chain, a rare and exoitc weapon. He could slice with such precision that he felt his foes were at a disadventage whenever he used it.

Magic
During his training he learned to control fire in general, nothing too fancy, and could heat items by touching them. For all intents and purposes, this is really just good for cooking food.
His main skill is the ability to set his two long swords magically on fire. While he has tried this with other objects, it has a nasty habit of failing and causing secondary fires or burning himself. So for safety's sake, he uses this spell only on his two trusty swords.
He was given a small dragon-shaped amulet at a young age, one left over from the Dungeon Wars. It allowed him to breathe fire, which in itself took a lot of practice. He made the amulet into an earring and never takes it off.
