Croppell, the Kingdom of Death, is the most unique kingdom in the New Order. Originally a stronghold of the Old Order, it is a strange mix of the two Orders and their cultures. The restrictions on Death Magic are much greater than any other forms of magic, specifically forbidding the creation and control of the undead.
Xavdak was born into the ruling family of Croppell as the fifth of nine children. He was the most powerful magically and became a wizard when he was twenty. Because of the restrictions on Death Magic, becoming a wizard that young is not unheard of as their training is also restricted and shorter. He never maintained a strong interest in politics or governing; He was glad to be so far removed to inheriting the throne. Instead he chose to perfect his magical skills even further, going as far as the laws would allow.
He obtained his Scythe of Draining from an artifact dealer in Khazard. Supposedly the weapon belonged to one of the first Death Wizards, dating back to when the Council had previously only allowed Death Sorcerers. Despite the scythe's questionable nature, the Council has allowed Xavdak to keep it.

Magic
The primary Death magic is the ability to communicate with the dead, a trait all Death mages have.
Reviving the dead is a wizard's skill, one Xavdak learned relatively early. The spell works for those who died within an hour, forcing their soul back into their mortal body while reviving the corpse. Death Wizards are, in theory, all capable of creating zombies. This practice has been banned since the earliest days of the New Order, however.
He is able to summon ghosts and spirits to attack a target or targets. Each type of spirit has its own purpose, from distraction to guarding to attack.
Xavdak can drain the life energy from one (living) target. This process is invisible and can be done from several yards away, effectively killing the victim. The spell can be hard to control and takes great concentration, but his scythe makes the task considerably easier and quickier.
