Gilligan Man, Away!

Written by Ika

Author's note: This is meant to be a song, which means you have to sing it (either in your head or out loud) as you read it. The italicized sections denote Tommy's perspective and the unitalicized parts are narrative. The song starts out slowly and calmly with an acoustic guitar in the background. Then the last syllable of the narrative part is held out and a drum set joins in. During Tommy's part, the tune is faster and the singing is more energetic. Then it slows down to return to the narrative tempo, and repeats. At the end, there's a chorus that is from um... an unknown person's perspective (*coughourscough*). They sing slowly in high voices and the last line slows down, with the last note being held out a long time. That's how the song is supposed to be, so enjoy!

A boy searched his closet
to find something to do
He put on a costume
and became someone new...

Gilligan Man, away!
Now I'm a hero, too
I'm out to save the day
That's just what heroes do

Gilligan Man, away!
I hear a scream of fear
I will save the day
I smell a foe is near

Meowing and clawing
a cat sat in a tree
stuck in its branches,
struggling to get free...

Gilligan Man, away!
I see you trapped up there
It will be okay
Just let down your long hair

Gilligan Man, away!
Your hair won't reach the ground
Don't worry - it's okay
I'll find a way around

The boy reached up high
and grabbed at the air
The small cat did nothing
but sit there and stare...

Gilligan Man, away!
You'll be safe real soon
I will find a way
Your cage can't be immune

Gilligan Man, away!
I've thought hard at length
I have found a way
I'll use my super strength

The trapped cat looked down
and saw a young boy
He was hitting the tree with
a cute plastic toy...

Gilligan Man, away!
My strength won't be enough
I really hate to say
but this foe's awfully tough

Gilligan Man, away!
A voice calls out to me
"Tommy, come in," they say
I know that I must flee

His mother stood waiting
by the garage door
"Dinner is ready,
so please play no more."

Gilligan Man, away!
I must go inside
Sorry, I can't stay
but seriously, I tried

[Instrumental]

Chorus:
Gilligan Man...
Oh, Gilligan Man...
If he can't do it...
then nobody can

Gilligan Man...
Oh, Gilligan Man...
You may not know it,
but I'm... your... great...est... fan.

Author's note (another one): Yes, the cat is still stuck in the tree. Maybe a fireman comes along and saves it or something.
