Roy Ayers

Very well respected vibe player who continued to record jazz into the 1990's. Listen to "Brother green (the disco king)" from "Mystic Voyage" LP, and the dance classic "Running away" from "Lifeline". "You Send Me" includes "Get on up, get on down", a UK disco hit. Perhaps the track which most crossed over to the disco scene was "Heat of the beat". Roy also produced the Elektra disco band Ubiquity and started his own Uno-melodic record label in 1980. Uno Melodic signings included 80's Ladies and Sylvia Striplin.

Roy's enduring success was proved during the 1980's when 1970's classics such as "Love will bring us back together" found dancefloor success again on the rare-groove scene.

"Running away" was only the second ever commercially released 12" single on the Polydor label.
