This is a picture of our Reading Centre. The children love to sit and read or talk on the comfortable Winnie-The-Pooh and Tigger chairs. I found these at Toys R Us. The leveled reading books are kept on the bookshelf to the left. Each month I borrow picture books from our school library to read. I often read one as a read aloud during the day and they are available for the children to look at and enjoy.
Here is my classroom in March of 2002.
This shelf contains math manipulatives and literacy activities. I try to put a picture of each activity on the bin. This helps the children find what they are looking for and to make sure that each activity is put back in the right place.
Here are our "Bin Toys". On this shelf, I store all of the building toys. We have Lasy, Duplo, Toolo, Bristol Blocks, a wooden train set, a marble run and Playmobile.

I colour coded each bin and each shelf. Again, this helps the children return the toys to their proper home and to prevent the toys from becoming mixed. For example, the bin with 1 red square is placed on the shelf with 1 red square.
