Welcome to
The Kindergarten Snooze
Hi! Welcome to the "Snooze"!
Happy New Year! It finally snowed today! We started our snowman unit this week without snow, in the hopes that it would soon arrive. The snow has arrived in abundance and I would love to share our projects with you.
Thanks for stopping by,
Miss Metselaar

Snowmen
January 31, 2002
After reading the story, Snowballs by Lois Ehlert,  the children made cut and paste snowmen. The snowmen are created from 2 squares of white construction paper (one large and one small) which they glued together. To decorate the snowmen, we used lots of "wonderful stuff".
We created icicles to decorate our classroom. Using blunt needles (we talked a lot about safety), the children patterned styrofoam pieces and blue & white tissue paper. They loved this activity and it really helped their fine motor skills.
This is a simple mitten number game that I created for the children to reinforce their number skills. I traced 10 mittens onto bristol board and then added a different number of stickers to each mitten. The child then has to count the number of stickers (I used sparkly snowflakes) and match the correct number.
This is a really cute painting of a winter scene. The children loved using the white paint on blue backgrounds.
