Everything I Need To Know About Life
I Learned From Star Trek

  • Live long and prosper. (spiritually and emotionally)
  • Live to seek out new life and new civilizations.
  • Live to boldly go where no one has gone before.
  • Racial Harmony.
  • Don't put all your ranking officers in one shuttle craft.
  • Love ignores colour, race and creed.
  • Enemies are often invisible- like Klingons they can be cloaked.
  • The good of the many outweighs the good of the few or the one.
  • When your logic fails, trust a hunch.
  • The guy in the red shirt always gets it in the neck.
  • Live life according to your own "Prime Directives".
  • Have your own "Prime Directives" to live your life by.
  • Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy.
  • Tell the truth. Telling a lie is never an option.
  • You must honour yourself first, before you can honour others.
  • Evaluate the person for what they are on the inside, not what they appear to be on the outside. It goes both ways.
  • There is no such things as a Vulcan Death Grip.
  • Do not judge or condemn a person for acting out of fear, you have also acted out of fear in the past.
  • Hate is an expression of fear, fear is defeated with compassion, understanding and love.
  • Two plus two always equals four.
  • Having is not so pleasing as wanting; it is highly illogical, but often true.
  • When diplomacy fails, fight.
  • Never, ever, under any circumstance, back down or run away from a confrontation, challenge, obstacle or fight.
  • Know your enemies as good as or better than your friends.
  • Read, study and understand Sun Tzu.
  • Fight with honour, fight as you want to be fought with.
  • Humans are highly illogical.
  • There is no time like right this minute to tell someone you love them.
  • Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations (IDIC).
  • Even on our own world, sometimes we are alien.
  • Keep your phaser set on stun
  • Even your most bitter enemy has the ability to become your greatest friend and ally.
  • Create a plan, then 'Make it so!'
  • Make a choice. It will get you some place bad or someplace good but at least it will get you someplace.

Allright, this isn't a poem, but it's worth a read. People often get on me because I am so fanatical about my love for Star Trek (no, I don't have any Capt Kirk uniforms in my closet). However, what people don't realize is that I am fanatical about Star Trek not because of the gadgets, gizmos and extremley love-a-licious Seven Of Nine....I am fanatical about Star Trek because of Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future and the hope, faith and belief in a better world where all people are valued, equal and at peace. Think I'm kidding? Go to any Trek convention and ask the people there what it is about Star Trek that appeals to them so much. You'll be surprised!
