The score to Broken Arrow is one of the best to be released by Hans Zimmer so far. In terms of action, this score is nothing but action. The main title theme is simple and is reprised throughout the soundtrack to represent the hero, Christian Slater. As for the villian, John Travolta, uses a simple composition of a three-note guitar piece and a children's choir. As he puts it, since "the Devil was the most beautiful angel in heaven, and had the most beautiful sounds, so Deakins (Travolta) has the most pleasant music in Broken Arrow". To properly convey that beautiful but dark sound, Zimmer got a hold of legendary guitarist Duane Eddy and the result is one of the wickedest themes in the entire soundtrack.

Broken Arrow's soundtrack is semi-techno and semi-western and Zimmer's linking of the two is a unique combination. Using an ensemble made up of a trumpet, guitar, harmonica, percussion, mini-Moogs, and four pianos, Zimmer successfully creates a musical masterpiece. However, as is almost always the case with soundtracks he creates, Zimmer has only a few tracks with no times listed. This often leads a consumer to believe that there is a limited amount of music on the CD which is not true. Zimmer is the kind of composer who likes to pack the maximum amount of music in one track. Often, the music flows from one track to the next without any pause resulting in an almost continuous stream of music. This soundtrack is probably equal in quality to Crimson Tide and is thus worth getting and listening to .
