For about a period of 4 years, getting my hands on a copy of the For Your Eyes Only soundtrack had been an obsession with me. Sure I bought other soundtracks but seeing as how For Your Eyes Only was the first James Bond movie I had on tape, I was understandably crazy about the music. Many people call Bill Conti's score for the movie a retro disco type of deal. Many people, including the one who so graciouslly made me a copy of the CD, did not particularly care for the score but that doesn't matter to me, I like it just fine. Also included on this bootleg is the entire score to Octopussy which for John Barry fans, makes this a CD worth getting. But be warned, this CD was released as a bootleg a few years ago and may not be available everywhere, and if you do find it, it may well be tremendously expensive. In my opinion, it is well worth it.

First on Conti's score, since it is first on the CD anyways. While it is slightly disco-esque most of the time, Conti still does keep the action going with the music being as lively as it is. Conti also smartly uses the James Bond theme during action scenes and it is featured quite prominently in Submarine. There are also two vocal songs in the For Your Eyes Only and Make It Last All Night. Of the two, of course For Your Eyes Only is the best and it remains one of the best Bond songs to date.

As for the score of Octopussy by the great John Barry, Bond is once again returned to his more familiar music. Barry uses the Bond theme at points throughout the score and makes superb use of the orchestra. All Time High is also one of the more popular Bond songs and in this Bond, it is also used as the love theme. That's My Little Octopussy is a particularly good rendition of the love theme. In terms of action, nothing in Barry's portion of the soundtrack comes close to the intensity of The Palace Fight.
