When Jurassic Park was released in theaters, I was looking forward to seeing it because of all the hype I had heard about it. And when I came out of the theater for the first time, I was not only stunned by what I saw, but also by what I heard. No, I don't mean the tremendous roars of the T-Rex or the nasal sounds of the raptors, I mean John Williams's score to the movie. He effectively brings the Jurassic period back to life with his music.

The eerie and driving sounds of the raptors in Raptor Attack harken back to something out of Jaws. The music composed for the raptors is strong and relentless with a serious sense of dread which is what the raptors represent in the movie. But dread is not the only emotion the dinosaurs bring out, in fact, for the brachiosaurs, it's the exact opposite. In My Friend, The Brachiosaurus, Williams brings a kind of mystical nobility to the humongous 'veggie-saurus'. But the standout track, in my opinion, is Journey to the Island which seems to encompass both the grandness of the story, the situation and the 'journey' we as the audience are about the embark on. In essense, it represents Jurassic Park and is thusly reprised several more times throughout the soundtrack.
