After the success of Mad Max and its sequel The Road Warrior, it was disappointing to see that the third part, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome went so unappreciated. Not as action packed as its predecessors, the film was still clearly a Mad Max film. The first two tracks are songs performed by Tina Turner. The first, We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome) is the more famous of the two. It's a pretty good song. However it is Jarre's score that takes up the bulk of the CD. Composer Brian May who had composed the score for the previous two Mad Max films decided not to score the third, Jarre took over. His efforts are comparable to those of the previous two films. There is a slightly different sound to them in comparison to the others but it still works.

While Bartertown is the theme for Aunty (Tina Turner), The Children is obviously the theme for the lost band of children living in the rip in the earth. Both are merely introductions of a sort to the longest track on the CD entitled Coming Home which covers most of the action of the end of the film. The theme introduced in The Children is the most prominent in this portion of the score. The instrumental version of We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome) is virtually the Tina Turner song sans Tina's singing. If you wanted to you could use it as a Karaoke track if you so desired. On the whole a good score, in some respects much better than the scores of the previous two Mad Max films.
