I was reluctant to see Sabrina since I wasn't a big fan of romantic movies. Somehow my mother convinced me to watch the last twenty minutes with her and I was captivated. I wasn't quite sure what was going on or what had happened previously but I liked what I saw and decided to watch it the next time it came on. And I was captivated again. It is of course not as great as the original version which starred Humphrey Bogart, William Holden and Audrey Hepburn, but it is still a very good updating. And John Williams's score is right there too to keep the romance going musically.

Like I said, I wasn't big fan of romantic movies, and rightly, I wasn't therefore into romantic scores. However, after watching it the first time and in times that followed, I found that I rather enjoyed the music as well. Being a big fan of Sting and The Police, I was excited to hear his crooning of Moonlight. I couldn't think of anyone who could do it better. The score itself is much softer than most of Williams's other scores but don't let that fool you. It is still a beautiful score with the orchestral pieces building up the romance.

Moonlight is the main theme of the movie and it is heard quite often throughout portions of the score. However, the Theme From Sabrina not only serves as the opening piece of music for the movie, but it also is the piece of music representing Sabrina. It is a combination of innocence and love. And that is precisely what are two of the main characteristics of her character at the outset of the movie. It is reprised at the end to remind us of where she came from and how she has matured and grown since then. The score isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy music like the softer pieces from E.T. and such, then you'll enjoy this soundtrack.
