~Cats Characters/Cast~
   (Based on the Video)
The Rumpus Cat/ Frank Thompson:
He's got a mean attitude and seems to guard the jellicle's from the pollicle dogs. He's feirce, intimidating, victorious, and HAIRY?! Yep, he's a hairy cat. He can be considered the self-proclaimed heroine of the tribe. Heroine, did I say that? I meant hero. For all that didn't quite understand my bad humour, even though the Rumpus cat "scared away" the pollicle's, he acts a bit childish and his behavior can come across as being incompetent. Yet, his playful childish ways are very amusing and he's one of my favorite cats. I always look forward to his part in the story, he's just so amusing, and I love him so much. Now the Rumpus cat is pretty busy 'read Admetus's profile'. All over the world, he looks pretty much the same, black fur with white 'muscles', hairy, the white bib with the R, and glowing red eyes. In other produtions he is just all black, with the wihite bib and the R, and glowing red eyes. The Rumpus Cat's song is pointless, but without him, where would the play be? Alot of people look forward to his song, so that makes Rumpus cat a very important cat indeed.
Jellylorum/Susan Jane Tanner:
She is a motherly type of cat who watches over the kittens and even the adults, with Jennyanydots. She takes care of Gus(The theatre cat), but it is still unsure whether he's her father or her mate. She tends to crochet and gossip alot with Jennyanydots. She's usually a white queen, with black and brown spots/stripes/cross-hatching. Or she is a golden queen with black and brown stripes/spots/cross-hatching. It all depends on what produtcion you are watching. She is in every production, or just about(some of the smaller productions don't have all the characters) And depending on what production you are watching she could be anywhere from a young adult like Demeter and Bombalurina, to an elder like Jenny. Still, she's not a favorite, but she is a must have character.
Jennyanydots/ Susie McKenna:
She is usually crocheting and gossiping with Jellylorum, and is a motherly type figure who looks after the kittens as well as some of the adults. She is known for her tap number of the Gumbie cat, which is one of the most enjoyable songs (in my opinion) of the musical. She wears three different costumes. The fat one, with leopard spots and tiger stripes. The second one is like the fat one, only skinny with yellow tossel's hanging off of them. And then the one she wears the rest of the time. Which is usually a white costume with orange/black/red stripes, and spots. She is an important character and is in all of the productions. At least a majority of them(Read Jellys). She's always thought of as an older cat.
SkimbleShanks/Geoffrey Garret:
He is the railway cat, and is one of the more goofy adults. Still, he knows when to be serious and when to be laid back. His number is always looked forward to, in the audience and in the cats. He usually scolds Tugger for his 'wild' ways, and is in the adult group. However, I know of a couple productions where he was younger like Demeter, perhaps even younger than that, and he was really kittenish and hyper/obnoxious in his song. He is the same in each production, or roughly the same. A golden tabby, with brown stripes, a black/brown vest and a long brown tail. His coloring does vary in each production, but he always has on that vest.(Well during his number) He's a great and funny character, and I couldn't imagine a show without him.
Asparagus Jr./Tony Timberlake:
Well his character only appears in the video, since Sir John Mills couldn't dance around. Still, he deserved his place in here, and I don't like thinking about seeing a CATs production without a younger gus as well as an older gus. But I will endure. Here he is part of the older cat group with Jenny, Jelly, and Skimble. He scolds Tugger for his wild ways, right along with Skimble, and both he and Skimble seem to enjoy Jenny's song together. Since he's only in the video I only have to describe one costume. As you can see, his costume is mainly brown with black stripes and black hatching in the front. He does have white in there too, though some tend to argue that he has some rust color in him too. I've actually come to like his character, ALOT. Yay for Tony.!!
Cassandra/Rebecca Parker:
She is a very mysterious cat in every production. Her role either lessens or gains, depending on which production you watch. And it's ovbious that she comes from an Ancient line of cats. She is mainly the same all around, a sleek brown burmese. With no leg or arm warmers.Though she differs in certain productions, like japan, she looks more like Tantomile. And in Prague(I think, don't hate me if i got it wrong) she is a slick cat, but mostly white with pink in her, and some black spots. That's a real difference(I did get the appearance right, just not sure about the production) At first I didn't like her, but when I saw her live I really thought she was cute, and became a Cassandra fan, that way.
Coricopat/Tommi Sliiden:
Is the twin of Tantomile, obviously. And both are mystical cats. Though in the video Coricopat seemed to be more social than Tantomile. Both are mysterious as well. He is mainly the same, white with black hatching and stripes, as well as orange markings. Though in some productions its brown instead of black. And in the japanes he and Cassandra look like twins instead of him and Tantomile. Man, hope I didn't mess up on the production again. Been getting into so many that they tend to get mixed up. There are some productions that he's not in(AKA american, least the one I saw) And that broke my heart. Coricopat is one of my favorites!
Tantomile/Kaye Brown:
Is the twin of Coricopat, obviously. And both are mystical and mysterious. She doesn't seem to be as social as Coricopat is in the video, but still socializes with others. (Hate when people say they are never with anyone else but each other, and they do spend alot of time together, but they spend time apart as well) She is mainly the same, white with black hatching and stripes, as well as orange markings. Though in some productions it's brown instead of black. I'm sure there are productions where she looks completely different.(You'll find them in the image section) There are even some productions where she doesn't exsist(Aka-American Least the one I saw) And I was heart-broken, I absolutely adore Tantomile.
Exotica/Femi Taylor:
She is only in the video, since Exotica's character was made especially for Femi, Femi was the original Broadway(?) Tantomile. (Seriously, I need to organize the different productions in my head. I dont want to start bantering out false information. Though she was an original Tantomile, from some production.) Anway, she's always in the background, and is considered a mysterious queen like Cassandra. In the video, she has two different costumes, an all dark brown one with no arm warmers. Her other one is a costume closely similar to Jellylorum's. Though she isn't in any other production I wish she was, I like her alot. I know I just love the mysterious and anti-social cats. ::Snickers:: Yay for Femi!!
Gus Sn./Sir John Mills:
He only plays that little bit, in the video, singing Gus the theatre cat. Sir John Mills had a gorgeous voice, even in his older age, it was just lovely. Normally, his character plays the growltiger with Griddlebone(Who is usually played by Jellylorum). But he didn't in the video for obvious reasons. I still felt that he needed a special space somewhere on this site, dedicated to Gus and of course Sir John Mills, and here it is. Nothing special though, I know... :( . Gus is a creamy brown/white tabby, and looks really similar to Old Deuteronomy, and not just in the video, in many different production's as well.
Griddlebone & Growltiger:
Growltiger and Griddlebone were cut from the video, as well as many other things. But they still are important, at least to me. I saw it live, and DAnG! This was my favorite song and choregraphy/dance!!!I LOVED IT!! Growltiger(played usually by Gus) Is an infamous pirate, and quite the terror. Griddlebone(played usually by Jelly) is a fair lady, that catches ol' growly's eye immediately. They sing a beautiful duet, and I mean beautiful, I beleive the version I learned was the Italian language, which is a beautiful language. (Probably why I liked it. I like songs in different languages as opposed to my own) Anyway, while they're singing, Ghengis comes aboard and that's the end of Growltiger. >.<  It is also rumored that Griddlebone works for Macavity. So I had always thought Growltiger and Griddlebone was just a play that the jellicle's made up. But when they say Griddlebone is rumored to work for Macavity, then obviously all three were real jellicles, or cats. Course that's just my opinion, no real evidence that it's true.
Bustopher Jones/James Barron:(Coming Soon)
Ghengis:(Coming Soon)
I don't think I've missed anybody, but if I have email me and let me know, thank you. And of course a special thanks to all the people backstage, as well! They do alot, too, and work just as hard!! Even the ones who don't get recognized, because they're are always a few who don't get recognized.
Go Home!!
