Came to Kinston in 1915.
Jesse was owner and contractor of J.H. Evans and Sons. After Jesse died the company was run by sons Dean Evans and later also Fred Evans. James Worthington worked there as a construction foreman after leaving Cash Supply Store until retirement.
Jesse married Sadie Mildred Cummings, daughter of Joseph Theodore Cummings and Weltha Jane White. (Sadie Mildred Cummings was born on 27 Aug 1902 in Kinston, NC, died on 19 Sep 1979 in Kinston, NC and was buried in 1979 in Maplewood Cemetery, Kinston, NC.)
