The box you see above is about 7" x 5" x 3" In the animated photo, the drawer slides out to its fullest extent. What you don't see are the steps that you must perform to get it to open. You see, when the box is closed, it automatically locks. A series of five steps is needed to get it to open again. This is what makes this box unique....and the fact that each one that I make is just a little different than the last. The box itself is made of walnut or cherry, usually, and the belly is a fancy piece of book-matched wood that has the symmetry of a real turtle's belly. Each is hand-carved in great detail.
