Squadron Cruise 2001

The Week after Easter, the second week of the NSW School Holidays saw 26 vessels
cruise and race in company from Sydney to Pittwater and return.

Races were conducted on five of the six intervening days, with the middle, ANZAC
day being a dedicated rest day.

At night vessels moored in different secluded locations free from the trappings of the
working world with the exceptions of the two nights where we were hosted by yacht
clubs who provided both hot showers and delicious food.

A truly enjoyable week which is highly recommended to racing and cruising folk alike.

Day One

The Start was delayed and twice moved closer to the finish, and the Beach BBQ held at Halletts Beach.

Day Two

After Racing all day Paul, Sheamus, Des and Claude had a restful evening aboard
rafted up in Mushroom Bay.

Day Three

A Race around Pittwater followed by a magnificent raft up in Smith's Creek.

Day Four

Tuesday evening saw us berthed at RPA all smelling beautiful after having a well deserved shower.
After a beautiful meal we were entertained with charades.

Day Five

Wednesday, Anzac Day was a rest day where all gathered in the Basin for fun, walks and a spit roast
before retiring to our boats.

Day Six

Ian joined us for a race around Lion Island before another serene raft up
in Pinta Bay. Unfortunately mobile phones worked amongst the tranquillity
and called Ian back to the office next morning.

Day Seven

Patrick joined us for the remainder of the cruise.
Again we were treated to another shower before enjoying a magnificant
Sea Food banquet at the Royal Motor Yacht Club.

Day Eight

Heading back to Sydney in a fine Southerly.
Obviously some vessels had a drier time than others.
