HISTORY!!!

KINDER LONDON TOWERS was founded in 1991, when the club moved to Wembley Arena in the Northwest of London. The club adopted the nickname Towers due to the historical Twin-towers of Wembley Stadium and have been known as LONDON TOWERS ever since.

The early 90s saw the TOWERS hover around the 3rd and the 5th place in the National League. The Londoners proved they were one of the strongest teams in the country without winning any silverware.

However, all this changed during the 1995/96 season when the TOWERS produced the most successful campaign in the history of the British Basketball. The club won three of the four domestic titles, including the League, Cup and Trophy. Unfortunately, they lost in a close Championship Final going for an unprecedented quartet.

The following year saw the TOWERS retain the Trophy and finish the second in the League, allowing them to progress to the Championship Finals. The TOWERS went on to capture the Championship for the first time ever, winning a thriller 89-88 in front of 8000 fans at Wembley Arena.

In 1998 LONDON TOWERS merged with CRYSTAL PALACE Basketball Club. LONDON TOWERS kept their name but moved from their beloved Wembley to the Crystal Palace National Sports Center, the South of London, where they are based today. The merger proved an immediate success. The TOWERS began their campaign by winning the annual Pre-season Basketball Tournament. This prestigious event attracts crowds of 7000 a day and signals the start of the British Basketball season. The tournament has attracted the European Super-powers, such as MACCABI Tel-Aviv, BENETTON Treviso, and RED STAR Belgrade. Just as they started their season, the TOWERS finished it in style by winning the Championship Final for the second time.

LONDON TOWERS success has continued into the new millennium. They became the inaugural Southern Conference Champions, beating the second best by 10 points. TOWERS have also claimed their third Trophy title in five years with a 74-73 win in front of a passionate crowd of nearly 7000, and the viewers watching on TV.

The 2000/2001-basketball season was one of excitement and anticipation for LONDON TOWERS as they made their debut in two European competitions - the NEBL and Euroleague. Leading the pack in Britain, TOWERS set a new club record of 20 consecutive BBL wins on their way to claiming the Southern Conference Title. However, in a massive upset, TOWERS were eliminated from the BBL Semi-finals with an 87-79 defeat to the eventual Champions LEICESTER RIDERS.

LONDON TOWERS had a phenomenal run in the NEBL winning nine games in the 16-strong League. The English side finished fifth in the final NEBL standings and faced the run-away Latvian League leaders BC VENTSPILS. After a disappointing result in Latvia, TOWERS fell short in their efforts to overturn a massive 27 points first leg deficit winning 97-81 at home to lose on aggregate 178-167 and thus, exit the NEBL.

In the Euroleague, TOWERS convincingly won their opening encounter, with an 86-61 victory over OPEL SKYLINERS Frankfurt of Germany. However, after battling performances against many of the Europe's finest sides, TOWERS did not qualify for the second round.
