Born in 1966, shifu Brian Cheng is the third and youngest son of the late shifu Thrinh Hoa Thu.
Shifu Brian Cheng began studying Tai Ji Tang Lang Quan at the age of thirteen, in 1979, in Saigon (Vietnam). His first master was shifu Tran To Nu, gong-fu brother of his father under shifu Zhao Zhu Xi. While training under shifu Tran To Nu he also trainen under with his father every morning.
While living in Saigon, shifu Brian Cheng had the chance to train with many famous masters, including shifu Dieu Huy Chaing, shifu Dieu Banh Wong, shifu Thu Ngo, shifu Quang The Tran, shifu Minh Tran, shifu Kiet Chi Au, and shifu Lu Chong.
In the 1980's shifu Brian Cheng moved to Hawaii (USA) and become the head instructor of the Tai Ji Tang Lang Quan style chapter in the island.
In 2004 shifu Brian Cheng moved to Northern California (USA) where he meets regularly with shifu Paul Eng.
