He started his training under shifu Liang Kam Yuen in 1980.
He is certified as a shifu by Liang Kam Yuen. He studied Qi Xing Tang Lang and Tai Ji Tang Lang.
Shifu Manuel Marquez has also studied Qi Xing Tang Lang Quan under shifu Li Da Chong and shifu Li Jin Rong, and Mei Hua Tang Lang Quan under shifu Hao Xin Lian in China.
He is studying Chen Tai Ji Quan from shifu Chen Xiao Wang and shifu Zhu Tian Cai, they are both students of one of the four tigers from the Chenjiagou village.
Shifu Manuel Marquez currently teaches in Lomita, close to Los Angeles, California (USA).
