This is my page about Pern - every avid fan has to have one, so here is mine. If you haven't read Anne McCaffrey's books, I strongly recommend it, especially the Dragonriders of Pern (r) and of course all her others which are just as good. On the internet, there are many sites that talk about Pern, and offer ways to 'live' on Pern - if only for a couple of minutes. These can be RPG (role-playing) clubs, MOOs, MUSHs, Adoption Weyrs (oops, sorry, Impression *g*) and many more. A popular one is PBeM (play-by-email). In these types of clubs, members create 'personas' which go about and live a life on Pern. Some PBeM clubs have a restricted amount of characters you can have, minimum stories per RL (real life) month, limit of rank (Holders, Weyrleaders etc) and strict canon. Some are much more leniant and easy-going, but clubs like the first one I described can be alot more fun, 'cos you can easily understand what is happening and the 'rank' characters are shared evenly. I am a member of various Pern PBeM clubs: Dawnsisters Weyr - Pern Shadows - River Stone Weyr - Araby Heights Weyr Pern Shadows is a club of Triad Weyrs, which involves two other Pern Clubs, Dragonsfall and Starlake, which I am not a part of. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Pern Shadows is an Alternative 10th Pass offline PbeM. AIVAS was never discovered, and the grub population on both continents has died out mysteriously. It is democratically run, as the members vote for which of their peers should become Boardies (of the Board of Directors) and who should own the personas which are high-ranking. There are no monthly requirements, except if you have any rank at all (have a gold firelizard, a bronzerider etc). There are many locations for you to have your persona: two weyrs, Shadow Cliff & Shadow River. two holds, Shadow Cliff & Dragon Shade various Halls at the 2 holds, including Harper, Miner, Smith, Dolphin, Healer, Seacraft and very-soon-to-be-built Weaver Hall. A raiding group & a trading caravan There is also a Weyrhold on the agenda, but current locations need to be filled before any work can go ahead. I have three personas so far at Shadows, with many more hopefully to come. Riverstone is an alternate (Non-AIVAS), 12th pass Pern� play-by-email game set on the Southern Continent, currently in the 18th turn of Threadfall. River Stone Weyr and Dark River Hold formerly had a sister Weyr and Hold, Twilight River Weyr and Twilight River Hold. Both Hold and Weyr were practically destroyed by a devastating storm and a monumental groundquake barely a month ago. I have one persona there at the moment (*sob*) and that's Slellan, an apprentice healer. Araby Heights Weyr - An Alternate Pass 14: AIVAS was never found and Thread still falls. They have many ranking positions open at three main locations: Araby Heights Weyr, Kahrain Hold, and Roma Heights Weyrhold, along with three halls at Kahrain: Dolphin, Harper and Healer.
