FOREST BRIDE WITH A RING MADE OF BRANCHES

that year was brass.
all of the chevron-shaped leaves
bloomed all at once.
i put the moon under my tongue
a token, the moon told jokes
& swam around my head
don’t these branches taste funny to you?
we could go mad, but we’ll be in love
forever, if you say yes –
i made the best bed in the trees.
