Tree Cody
Robert Tree Cody Red
Cedar Whistle, Native American flutist, dancer, artist,
educator and actor, has performed throughout the United
States, Europe, Canada, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom,
the Far East., Central and South America. A prize winning
traditional dancer, 6 foot 10 inch Cody is well known on
the pow wow circuit as a northern traditional dancer,
master of ceremonies and arena director.
In 1978, he was
presented with the Queen's 25th Silver Jubilee Medal for
his command performance as a Fancy and Eagle Dancer for
the Queen of England.

Cody has lectured at
museums, schools, universities and colleges. As a counselor and
educator, Cody frequently participates in artist-in-residence
programs at elementary and middle schools for the Arizona
Commission on the Arts. Of Maricopa-Dakota heritage, Cody has
taught students of all ages about the folklore, crafts, music
and traditional ways of Native American people.
Tree has a remarkable
ability in communicating with people, particularly young people
of all cultures. He has given generously of his time and talents
for benefits of people in need.
A versatile flute player,
Cody has five albums on the Canyon Records label. His newest
album, White Buffalo, features thirteen songs for the Native
American flute, with keyboardist Rob Wallace and percussionist
Will Clipman, combining their different musical perspectives
into a new expression inspired by the traditions that honors the
spirit of the buffalo.
