Rule Genealogy

The following information was provided to me by my Dad, Hollis Crockett Rule,Sr. As was told to him by his father, Albert Brooks Rule.

1. Abel Rule believed to be born in La. married Mary Kennedy. Mary was born April 25,1797 in Tn. and died Dec. 9,1880. They had 5 children.
i.Hugh married Hettie (?).
ii.*William Thomas was born Feb. 5,1839 in Ill. and died Mar. 4,1913 in OK. William married Margaret Jane Fisher. She was born Sept. 3,1843 in Ill. and died Jan. 4,1927 Basin,OK. Her parents were Thomas Fisher and Sarah Mosley, both believed to be Cherokee Indian. William and Margaret had 8 children together.
iii.Dempsy married Elizabeth Fisher (Elizabeth and Margaret were sisters).
iv.Margaret married Nicholas Walker.
v.Olive married (?) Johnson.


2. William and Margaret had the following 8 children.

i.Ollie born Apr 21,1863 in Washington County,Ill married Frank Crawford on Dec. 8,1881. Ollie died Dec. 26,1907 in Labette County,KS. They had 9 children together.
ii.Laura born Sept.21,1865 in Washington County,Ill married Edd Walker. Ollie died Apr. 25,1952 in Tulsa,OK-where she is burried. They had 4 children together.
iii.*Charles Abel born Nov. 15,1868 married Lydia Brooks. Charles died May 30,1942 in Creek County,OK. Lydia was born Jul. 18,1870 in Bellville,Ill. and died Jan. 19,1954 in Mannford,OK. Lydia's parents were James Henry Brooks and Almira Jane Woodworth.They had 5 children together. See 3rd list.
iv. Sadie born Jun 16,1872 in Cherokee County,KS married Ulysess Sumner Pitsenberger on Jul 4,1893 in Cherokee County,KS. Sadie died Sep. 18,1938 in Newkirk,OK. They had 9 children. The 9 children are... a)Roy C. b)Nellie M. c)Julia M. d)Ralph W. e)Paul B. f)Mary E. g)Lydia N. h)Margaurite M. i)M. Genevieve.
v. John William born Mar 30,1875 in Cherokee County,KS, died just 2 years later, Jun. 29,1878, in Cherokee County, KS
vi. Thomas Fisher born Jul. 18,1878 in Cherokee County,KS, died just 2 yrs later, Aug. 8,1880 in Cherokee County,KS.
vii. Homer Robert born Jun. 17,1881 In Cherokee County,KS.He married Laura Patrick. Homer died Feb. 20,1905, Pawnee County,OK. They had 2 children together.
viii. Angie Edna was born May 24,1884 in Cherokee County,KS. She married Victor Crawford. Angie died Dec. 30,1920 in Pawnee County,OK. They had 3 children.


3. Charles & Lydia had the following 5 children.

i. *Albert Brooks Rule was born Jan. 7,1893 in Cherokee County,KS. He married Harriett (Hettie) Mae Crockett. They were married Aug. 30, 1928 in Labette County,KS. Albert died Apr. 19,1976 in Labette County,KS. Hettie was born Feb.11,1889 in Thayer,KS and died Jun. 8,1969. Hetie's parents were Franklin Halcolm Crockett and Francis Jemina Peterson. They are both burried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg,KS. They had 1 child together, My Father.


Here is some information on the Rule's in the 1880 Census. They all lived in Sheridan, Cherokee County, Kansas.

vi.Sarah Rule age 8 -1872- Kansas dau single white female
vii.Thomas F. Rule age 1 -1879- Kansas son single white male
viii.William T. Rule age 41 -1839- Illinois self married white male



The following information is the research I have done on my Grandfather,Albert. I wanted to know a little of what it was like for him while he served in WWI.

Albert B. Rule enlisted when the U.S. declared war. He went to Camp Doniphan, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for his training. He was in the( I hope I get this right) 35th Division, 110th Sanitary Train, 140th Field Hospital/Ambulance Company. My grandfather was a litter-bearer for the 110th Engineers.
