DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)
You've probably heard of this new video game (well new to America) called Dance Dance Revolution.
>But what is it?
Basically, it is a video game which allows you to dance on a dance pad (similar to a controller) with your feet.
>What?
Little arrows appear on your television set and you step in time with them on a dance pad.  Sounds pretty nifty, right?  If you've never played it before or have no rhythm (Alex, lol ^_^) this game can become quite difficult and frustrating.  Even if you completely suck at this game (or if you're lazy like me ^_~) you can always use a Playstation controller.  [Or illegally download the music mwahaahaa!]
>Okay what if it's too easy?
It won't be, lol.  At first you'll suck at the dance pad unless you're like ultimate master of the dancing world, but even then there are different modes to choose from.  Light/Basic for all you beginners, Standard/Trick for us inbetween people, and Heavy/Maniac for well the maniacs hee hee.
>What if Light/Basic is TOO HARD?!
Well Konami has come out with the DDRMAX2 which has a new mode which is even easier (God help us) called Beginner mode.  For the people who really suck.  [Sorry for being so harsh. : /]
>And if Heavy/Maniac is TOO EASY?!
Also there is a mode I forgot to mention . . . Onimode!  It has non-stop music to a certain degree.
>How many versions of DDR are out there?
Well, I'm not too sure because I am not Japanese.  But I do know there at at least five that have come out in America and I own four.  There's Dance Dance Revolution, Dance Dance Revolution Konamix, DDRMAX, DDRMAX2, and DDR Extreme. Oh!  I almost forgot the arcade versions of DDR.  There are MANY of those.  I found two machines with DDR in my life, one is at my local movie theatre and another is at Six Flags Great America.
>How much does the dance pad cost?
It depends on where you get and if you purchase it with a game or not.  My sister's and my boyfriend's both cost about $20.00.  But mine that Alex bought me, was $60.00 because it included the DDRMAX2 game with it.  So I would guesstimate that it is near or around $20.00 on it's own.
>Which game is the best to buy/play?
I personally prefer DDRMAX because this is the first DDR I've played and I'm most familiar with it.  However, it is hard to find now because it's been out for so long [I would try eBay], DDRMAX2 has come out last August and it isn't too terribly bad. [Remember it has the easiest mode, Beginner mode]  DDRKonamix is a little challenging if you're not used to DDR.
