And- there are more updated files in the HSLDA files- they are updated
into 2003- whereas the Circuit courts are still trying to get theirs updated.
The HSLDA is a wonderful resource for homeschoolers- if anyone wants
to to homeschool their kids.(I thought about it- but realized that there are
somethings I can't teach.

I looked at the US Constitution- and I looked at my individual STATE
constitution- and laws and codes. (and I found that the law giving CPS the
powers it has is in DIRECT CONFLICT with both the US and STATE
Constitution!) ***Amendment XIV. fn6 [ Annotations ]
Section. 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States and
subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of
the State wherein they reside.
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or
immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any
person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to
any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Section. 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States
according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons
in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at
any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the
United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial
officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to
any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age,
and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for
participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein
shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens
shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in
such State.
Section. 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or
elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military,
under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken
an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or
as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of
any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have
engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or
comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of
each House, remove such disability.
Section. 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized
by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for
services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.
But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt
or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United
States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such
debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.
Section. 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate
legislation, the provisions of this article.
Basically it says the state can't pass a law that goes against the
Constitution! (And the was CPS code is worded in the law directly violates
it.)
Hey- I grew up in SOUTH HELL BFE.(Laura- that's Lenoir NC.) I lived
in Boone for a while and NOW I live in Mountain City, TN. (odd- if you
live in ASHE CO. you are pretty close!)
CPS has tried to treat me like an ignorant redneck- and they have
discovered that I am smarter than they thought. (so is the hubby. They
figured they were getting dumb redneck plumber - they got EDUCATED
plumber- who has degree- and education background.)
sigh - maybe we should start a group for people who hate CPS and files
with legislation and decisions.
I said that if we sued for damages - that we should use the money - after socking some away - to establish a "Consumer Advocates" group on Child Protective Services -
I learned that in NC alone - 20 children were lost in the system last year -
they cannot find the children - or their records - or any trace of what
happened to them. (I lived in NC last year for a while. I was appalled.)
I hate CPS with a PASSION.
I know of only ONE CPS worker who really cared - and he tried his BEST to follow the laws - and NOT step on people's rights. (and he went to school with me.) He quit working with CPS when he saw innocent people getting malicious reports filed on them for no reason - and people who had NO business TOUCHING kids - getting away with -in one case quite literally- murder. He made sure that ONE molester that I knew was put behind bars. (and I am glad he did - because when this person got OUT- he made a beeline for me and my kids - he just didn't reckon on hubby - shotgun- and my refusal to have anything to do with him). And he ONLY pursued people who had concrete EVIDENCE - not just an anonymous report - he had doctor's verification that the child was being molested/abused. He had complaints from an instructor - and he ALWAYS phoned parents before seeing the child.
He was good- but he got burned out.
