Buttermilk Biscuits

Elvis liked his biscuits hot, split open, and smothered with butter...

2 cups Gold Medal self-rising flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Crisco
2/3 cup buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Grease a large baking sheet with Crisco.
Place the flour and other dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. With two knives or pastry cutter, work in the Crisco until the mixture forms fine crumbs. Stir in the buttermilk with a fork till just mixed. The batter will be somewhat sticky. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. knead briefly. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the dough with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter. Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until browned nicely.

Love Me Tender

(words & music by Vera Matson - Elvis Presley)

Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.

Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
and I always will.

Love me tender,
love me long,
take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong,
and we'll never part.

Love me tender,
love me dear,
tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years,
till the end of time.

(When at last my dreams come true
Darling this I know
Happiness will follow you
Everywhere you go).
