Today's an ocean which you sail forever;
Winds forever carry you away.
Eden always lies somewhere behind,
Nor can you turn your vessel to the wind,
Though memory must memories betray.
Years break like waves across the bow of ever.
Fortune's the horizon, giving way,
Open endlessly to your endeavor,
Unreachable as it, nor cruel nor kind,
Retreats before the vastness of the day. |
