The Ishtar Gate, the main entrance to ancient Babylon. Ishtar, which means "star," is the Babylonian goddess of love and beauty. Incidentally, it is transliterated into English as "Esther," the name of the Hebrew girl (Hadassah) who became queen of Persia. The two are not related...
