Bomb Terror Grips Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR APR 11 (Seachange Malaysia) – Fear, terror and blind panic have gripped supporters of Barisan Nasional after the Inspector General of Police, Norian Mai, publicised information that Opposition activists were planning to bring in bombs, Molotov cocktails and grenade launchers to topple the government.

Zaleha, an “UMNO princess” whose hair had turned white overnight from sheer horror, praised the police lavishly for having detained seven Opposition activists under the ISA. In between the chattering of her teeth, she said, “I hope our brave police will round up at least one thousand of these violent people. How dare they plot to disturb the peace and harmony of this beautiful country?"

Likewise, Aileen Seok of Penang feels particularly unsafe because she is leader of the Gerakan’s Taman Moronia branch. She told reporters, “Who knows, these evil people may have already included me in their blacklist as I have often spoken against them during Gerakan branch meetings. I’m afraid of being kidnapped and raped. For instance, I was late for yesterday’s meeting because there was a strange man following me.”

When asked how that made her late, she explained: “Well, he wasn’t walking very fast.”

Madam Ling, who hails from a posh area of Kuala Lumpur, spoke to reporters in between packing her bags, ready to flee the country. Together with her billionaire husband, she plans to live in the south of France until the situation clears up and has already arranged for the Defence Ministry to provide a couple of tanks to escort them to the KLIA. “After all, we will be carrying with us at least US10 million in currency notes and it will be a shame if this were to fall into the hands of the Reformasi. Imagine how many more bombs they can buy,” she added with a shudder.

Others unable to leave have decided to barricade themselves in their homes. One of these is Bodohwi who earlier rang his employer to take emergency leave. He said, “I’m terrified to go on to a bus in case a bomb explodes. Also, walking along the streets may be dangerous as there may be land mines planted by the Opposition.”

MCA members were today advised to carry specially blessed pictures of Mahathir as good luck charms against bullets and bombs. According to MCA President, Datuk Seri Ling Liong Sik, the bigger the picture, the more powerful the charm. Some of these were so big that they had to be carried by servants walking ahead to clear the ground.

In a parallel development, a bomb scare at the Petronas Twin Towers this morning had office workers run screaming from both buildings like cockroaches fleeing a hot oven. Some were even seen jumping to their death in their haste to escape what could have been twin towering infernos.

Meanwhile, UMNO Youth urged the government to immediately begin construction of underground bomb shelters in case the Opposition deploy their grenade launchers. “Who knows, some of these may even be nuclear bombs,” their leader claimed. “The Malays could be wiped out from the face of the Earth. Those already arrested under the ISA should be mercilessly tortured until they reveal everything.”

An editorial in today's New Straits Times warned of carnage and bloodshed in Kuala Lumpur on a scale never seen before in the history of the world had the police not acted quickly. "BA will make the IRA seem like kids playing with firecrackers. It will be worse than the Holocaust. Ninety percent of the city could be flattened and most of  us could be dead from horrible injuries. Bodies will pile up, higher than the Petronas Twin Towers."
