Mahathir's Long Nose

How can you tell when Mahathir is lying? Whenever he opens his mouth! Although the task is impossible, Seachange Malaysia will attempt to catalogue the many lies and distortions of this most shamelessly corrupt of leaders. Readers are welcome to add to the list.

April 26, 2001 : On Good Dictators
"Good dictators rather than Western-style democracy is what some countries in the developing world need."

Comment: Name me one good dictator in history, you flower-covered dunghill. How about Idi Amin, Stalin or Hitler? Human failings means that absolute power corrupts absolutely. A good ruler would not need dictatorship methods to govern the people. Only cruel, corrupt, fearful, desperate, foul-smelling, 'bad' dictators like you need the ISA and a host of other restrictive laws to cow the population into submission.

April 21, 2001 : On Suhakam's call for demonstrations to be allowed in designated places like stadiums and halls.
"In this country, they do not wish to hold demonstrations in specified places but on the streets."

Comment: More horseshit from your foul mouth. BA has repeatedly been refused permission to hold rallies in Bukit Jalil Stadium and you know that.

April 17, 2001 : On the ISA
"The ISA has served the country well."

Comment: The ISA has served Mahathir well. But this a man who has merged his persona with that of the country, hence his personal security is equated to the security of the whole country. Talk about egomaniacs.

April 16, 2001 : On Foreign Press
"We don't want to be like the press in other countries, the so-called liberal countries, who tell lies, fabricate stories, provoke people and don't give a fair picture. For example, they may report that there is a lot of rioting in Malaysia when in fact, it is a very rare incident limited to one place only."

Comment: If the foreign press talks about rioting, it is only because you, the PM, and your propaganda machine spews out such lies against the Opposition. And if you want to criticise any press for "telling lies, fabricating stories blah blah blah, you need look no further than the New Straits Times, Utusan or The Star.

April 15, 2001 : On Black 14
"They proposed a gathering of 50,000 people and we learnt that they told certain people that they wanted to have it a la Indonesia, that is through violence. But (it) did not happen."

Comment: You can say any foul rubbish you like as long as you don't have to prove it. And drag a neigbouring country into it as well.

April 13, 2001 : On ISA Arrests
"Normal laws” were not used to detain the seven reformasi activists arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA), as it would require evidence, and the following of certain procedures and processes."

Comment: In that case, don't pretent that your government is a normal, democratic one. You might as well also do away with normal elections since it requires polling and the following of certain procedures and processes.

April 3, 2001 : On Anwar's backache
"Anwar's backache is politics and not about health. The political agenda is to smear the government, to topple the government through foreign pressure and violence, and ultimately to release himself,”

Comment: Every time this obscene man opens his mouth, he spews vomit-inducing rubbish and poison. Should a person's medical ailment be politicized to this extent? But what can we expect of a man who claimed that Anwar's injuries in prison were self-inflicted?

"The government has bent over backwards and I don't quite agree with this special treatment given to him, which is not given to other prisoners with backache"

Comment: Is being beaten by the ex-IGP part of the special treatment? Has the government bent so far backwards that it is sodomized by Mahathir?

April 3, 2001 - On the opposition and foreigners
"The opposition parties and their "foreign sympathisers" are trying to topple this government through street violence. This government will act decisively to protect this country from foreign manipulation and their proxies in this country."

Comment: A desperate, scared dictator with his back against the wall falling back on the age-old tactic of falling back on the foreign bogeyman. Milosevic tried that in his last days in office too. Learn some new tricks you dog!

"They (the opposition) saw what happened in a neighbouring country and appeared to be happy to see chaos, the killings of Muslims and Christians, Dayaks and Madurese; they are disappointed because there were no killings in Malaysia."

Comment: Let's just say that nobody, not the opposition, or foreigners or even those who hate Mahathir's guts have been so vile in accusing others of such unholy acts without any proof. With such baseless accusations, the shit rebounds and sticks to the accuser.

March 29 2001 - On Surgical Treatment for Anwar
"We know why he wants to go overseas for treatment. We know that if we allow him to go, he will never come back"

Comment: Not likely you vindictive old man. And in the remote possibility that Anwar doesn’t return, you should be the happiest man in the world. But it's not about justice or even politics. It's about a spiteful old man with a personal grudge.

March 27 2001 - Malaysia More Liberal
"We are more liberal than many other countries in the world. We can be proud of this"

Comment: Yes, we are more liberal than Myanmar, Cuba, China, Zimbabwe and South Korea. We can be proud of this.

March 24 2001 - On Bakun Dam
"Major projects designed to enhance Malaysians' well-being are not wasteful and as such the government would continue implementing them despite accusations hurled by detractors. We shall carry on with the Bakun project despite the lies spread against the government."

Comment: As Bakun Dam will generate many times more power that Sarawak and Sabah can use this hugely expensive project is nothing more than a megalomania's dream that the country can ill afford.

March 20 2001 - On Holding Power Too Long
"The holding on to one position for too long a time can bring about corruption. When a person is given a little bit of authority, eventually corruption will take place."

Comment: So why are you still here? Haven't you stolen enough and protected enough corrupt people?

Match 15 2001 - On Kg. Medan Riots
" The opposition is now focusing attention on poor citizens by instigating them to protest against the government. We can see how they are focusing on squatter areas and sympathising with them (squatters) by visiting the sick and injured in the hospital."

Comment: On the foulness scale of 1-10, this one rates an 11!. Is there nothing under the sun he won't accuse the opposition of? Do Malaysians deserve this foul mouthed man who is clearly unfit to be prime minister?

March 10, 2001 : On Malaysiakini
"These people (malaysiakini) behave like traitors and people who love Malaysia would not support malaysiakini" .

Comment: Mahathir's definition of traitor: Anyone who reveals the cronyism and corruption in the government. Mahathir's definition of love for Malaysia: Love for the corrupt prime minister.

March 08 2001 - On Malay Unity Talks
"The purpose of the meeting is to discuss protecting Malay interests like the special rights of the Malays, the position of Islam and the national language, and the status of the Malay Rulers because there are attempts by certain quarters to challenge the special privileges of the Malays as enshrined in the Federal Constitution."

Comment: As they are enshrined in the Constitution, just who can challenge those rights? Why is it necessary for Malays to sit down and talk about protecting their rights from an imaginary enemy which can only be other non-Malays? Another attempt to use disgusting racial politics to create racial fear and mistrust to further political ends.

March 04 2001 - On Keadilan
"They (Keadilan) saw what happened in a neighbouring country and appeared to be happy to see chaos, the killings of Muslims and Christians, Dayaks and Madurese; they are disappointed because there were no killings in Malaysia."

Comment: This is not politics, this is the wild raving of a spiteful old man shouting obscenities at his neighbour just because they don't see eye to eye. Sick! Sickening! Shocking!

Sept 22 2000 - On foreign news agencies
"Developing nations should trust their own media rather than relying on Western media for accurate information".

Comment: This is the most putrid, disgusting, shameless lie to come out of Mahathir's mouth. After subjugating the local media to be supine propaganda mouth pieces of his party, Mahathir has the cheek to say they give us accurate reporting. In the dung-filled pages of the local media we have the most unbalanced one-sided reporting ever in a "democratic" nation.

Sept 21 2000 - On control of foreign mass media
"It is morally wrong for (foreign) governments to control the (foreign) mass media".

Comment: Start with your own house you dog before you start criticizing others. Foreign news agencies have no connection with their governments but in Malaysia the major newspapers and TV stations are all owned by the ruling party or the cronies. Censorship and control has led the local mass media to be nothing more than slavish party organs. Mahathir's lies are so sickening that anytime you want to puke you can read the slime that he spews out.

Sept 05 2000 - On the internet
"Malaysians prefer to use the internet to spread lies and obtain non-beneficial information".

Comment: Mahathr's definition of a lie is anything which exposes abuses and wrong-doings by the government and politicians. His definition of non-beneficial information is anything which criticizes the government and the ruling party. Wake up Mahashit. The internet provides a valuable alternative to the dung filled pages of the state controlled local media and Malaysians are taking the opportunity to learn the truth about your corrupt regime. Let's hope the free flow of information on the internet rots your dictatorship.

Sept 01 2000 - On foreigners
"Certain quarters (foreigners) tried to wreck the country's economy and incite racial hatred among the races to cause instability hoping that by doing so we would turn to them for help".

Comment: Don't blame the foreigners. You're doing a pretty good job yourself of inciting the races to save your own skin. What a shameful and vile prime minister. Malaysians deserve better than this. Learn some new issues instead of flogging the foreign bogeyman issue again and again.

Aug 31 2000 - Merdeka speech
"The demands by Suqui are not much different from communists and they are like other extremist groups like Al-Ma'unah".

Comment: Trying to inciting racial hatred and mistrust to divert attention from Anwar and win back support of Malays under your corrupt leadership are you? A most dangerous game but Malaysians are too matured and knowing to fall for your loathsome tricks again. The height of desperation and disgust. Ptui!

Aug 26 2000 - PAS is ungrateful
"PAS is ungrateful. They should They should repay and return all the scholarships, all the roads in the villages and all the urban taxes collected which have been spent for development in the villages. Perhaps we can dig back the roads ".

Comment: Return to your pocket or Daim's pocket? If you have forgotten that public money belongs to the people and not to your party and cronies, have the decency to resign. By what fanciful reason should people be grateful to Mahathir and Umno for getting a scholarship?

Aug 25 2000 - On foreign criticism about Anwar
"I pity those (referring to Islamic Society of North America which withdrew an invitation for him to speak) who only listen to one side. They are not able to distinguish truth from propaganda ".

Comment: You should pity those who read only the dung-filled pages of the state controlled media and believe the lies, distortions and half-truths printed there. They are only able to listen to one side…Mahathir's crooked side

August 9 2000 - On Anwar's sodomy conviction
"He has been given every opportunity to defend himself. It is a normal trial, there is no conspiracy."

Comment: Old man, it's time for you to go jump into the lake. Maybe the little fishes there will believe you.

"I am quite sure the court has given the sentence (9 years) because it was the right punishment for what Anwar was charged with."

Comment: The puppet judge gave this harsh sentence because he was jerking to your strings. No honourable judge would give such a manifestly excessive sentence. Let's see if Rahim Noor stays even a day in jail for beating Anwar to within an inch of his life. Justice has been sodomized by you, the judge and the Attorney-General.

July 31 2000 - On his sons
"My sons don't depend on me. Their businesses do not involve the government".

Comment: If not for him his sons would be the failed businessmen they deserve to be. Short on ability and long on been spoonfed with opportunities, they are the epitome of nepotism Suharto style. When they hit a rough path they can depend on the government to bail them out. Just ask Mirzan Mahathir whose failed shipping company was bought over by Petronas for cash. When asked about the most important factor for his success, Mirzan had one word - "Daddy-kasi"

July 29 2000 - On the Aug 4 planned gathering
"Don't respond to their calls. The holding of such gatherings will affect the economy especially the livelihood of petty traders who do business by the roadside. This is one process which will victimize poor people."

Comment: Since when has this dictator and champion of the rich cared about poor people? His policies have always been to bail out his rich crony-led companies like Renong and even failed get-rich-quick privatization cronies like Indah Water. The common man usually receives the short end of the stick by having to pay more to make his sons and cronies richer. Actually the planned gathering will benefit petty traders and hawkers by drawing the crowd to them if not for his sadistic baton charging pigs who beat the peaceful crowd and scatter them with tear gas and acid laced water.

July 28 2000 - On race relations
"After the 1969 race riots the National Front government took pains to remove the roots of such antagonism and jealousy between the races."

Comment: You forgot to say that at every election since 1969 the National Front has dutifully trotted out the 1969 race riots to frighten the Chinese and Indians into voting for it. It is an absolute disgrace that such vile tactics has to be used again and again even 30 years after the incident. The National Front has no qualms about stirring up racial fear to cling on to power.

July 25 2000 - On Malaysia Incorporated
"The Malaysia Incorporated concept has helped reduce the disparity between the bumiputra and non-bumiputra communities"

Comment: The Malaysia Inc. concept has been an exercise in milking the common man to make the rich cronies richer. In each and every case, privatization has resulted in increased costs to consumers while efficiency and quality of service remain the same or become worse. Some increases have been drastic like the cost of medicines since the privatization of the Government Medical Store. When privatized entities fail to reap huge profits for the privateers the government stands ready to buy back the company with tax payers funds like the staggering RM800 million paid for Indah Water.

July 02 2000 - On foreign wire service reports
"Muslim countries should not depend on foreign wire service reports for news on other Muslim countries because the Western wire services like AP, Reuters and AFP skewed reports to suit their own agenda".

Comment: What own agenda? Why should Western news services which are all independent and have no connection with each other conspire to have an agenda against any country? Should we also believe that Western powers are out to re-colonize us just because Mahathir says so? Does Mahathir have his own agenda to spew out such fanciful nonsense?

"A better way was to obtain news from the local agencies of the respective countries instead. Over time, it was the local agencies that provide the accurate news".

Comment: Ptui! Isn't this rich coming from a dictator who has suppressed the press in his country to slavish boneless wonders to serve as propaganda machines for his regime? A press which protects the corruption and abuses of himself and his cronies and worse of all, prints his illogical ravings like pearls of wisdom. Malaysians would rather trust foreign news agencies rather than the dung-filled pages of the local press.

July 01 2000 - Terengganu's oil royalty
"It is a mistake to pay Terengganu 5% in oil royalty. We did not consider the rights of the other states when we decided to give Terengganu the oil royalty"

Comment: The principle of 5% royalty to the state where the oil is produced has been established since Petronas was incorporated so why the sudden concern for other states now? It wasn't a mistake when BN was in power was it? This slimy toad can twist and distort as he likes, unchallenged by a sycophantic press. Sarawak and Sabah also gets 5% royalty from oil produced there. Will it suddenly become a "mistake" as well if the opposition takes over the states?

June 30 2000 - On Bakun Dam project
"Bakun project must go on because there is an increasing need for electricity. We now use more than 9000MW so we have to speed up the building of the new plants (Bakun)"

Comment: This liar and distorter did not mention that the increasing need for electricity is mostly in Peninsula Malaysia which Bakun tucked away in the jungles of Sarawak will not solve. The RM10 billion 640km undersea cable has been given up as too expensive and impractical. Besides, only an idiot will build a power plant so far away from the load centre. Even if the plant is scaled down to 500MW, Sarawak which already has excess electricity and low consumption growth will not be able to utilise the capacity of Bakun in the medium term future. Putting in a smaller power plant will not change the RM15 billion price tag much as the main cost is in the structure of the dam. So why the need for this hugely expensive and environmentally destructive dam? This is yet another example of "corruption in action" where white elephants are built at public expense to enrich cronies.

"We have to find other industries which uses a lot of electricity".

Comment: You build a power plant to cater for demand, not create demand to justify its construction. Is there no limit to plundering of the nation's wealth by Mahathir and his cronies? For further information read Kua Kia Soong's excellent Never Ending Folly of Bakun

June 27 2000 - On the growing cases of arson in schools.
"I believed that the students who allegedly started the fires had been taught by "certain parties" (the opposition) to act that way".

"There appears to be people exerting influence on children in kindergartens to hate the government and not to respect anyone including teachers,"

Comment: Is there nothing that this foul mouthed prime minister will not blame on the opposition? Malaysians should be ashamed of him insulting their intelligence with far-fetched nonsense just like the time when he said that Anwar's injuries in prison could have been self-inflicted. Only in Malaysia can such outrageous lying statements be made by a national leader without repercussion, helped by an incredibly supine press. Another case of Malaysia Boleh!

June 18 2000 - On Chinese Prime Minister
"A Chinese can become prime minister of Malaysia"

Comment: Mahathir's words are not generous, they are tinged with the barbs of racial politics. Although there is nothing in the constitution to forbid a Chinese prime minister, practical realities rule out that possibility for the foreseeable future. Chinese do not even share power now, they only play a whitewash role in the government while Umno runs the whole show. So why is this political hack talking about a Chinese prime minister? Perhaps Malays who does not support his corrupt regime must be threatened with losing political supremacy. As for the Chinese this must amount to a cruel and insensitive joke bearing in mind the political realities of the country.

14 June 2000 - On Bar Council's call for a tribunal to debate Eusoff Chin's overseas trip with Lingam
"There is some political agenda behind the Bar Council's proposal for a tribunal to investigate the case and it may be connected with other things that are happening in the country. I don't see the need for a tribunal".

Comment: Here we have the corrupt Prime Minister trying to protect his corrupt minion Chief Justice Eusoff Chin from investigation over his serious misdemeanor. What is wrong in convening a tribunal to investigate these very serious allegations? If Eusoff is innocent, his name will be cleared and the judiciary will get back a little of its tainted reputation. If not then he should face the sack for putting himself in the debt of a lawyer appealing a case in his court. Mahathir always tries to protect the corrupt because he needs their services.

"Before when we took action to terminate a judge, the Bar vilified us. It accused us of firing a judge we don't like but it is doing the same".

Comment: Malaysians should be ashamed of the lying, distorted rubbish spewing from Mahathir's mouth. How can he compare the Bar Council's call to investigate Eusoff Chin with the Tun Salleh Abas sacking in 1988? Tun Salleh Abas the former Lord President was sacked on flimsy trumped up charges because he was an independent judge who delivered judgements Mahathir didn't like. It was a scandalous affair which broke the independence of the judiciary. Now that Mahathir's corrupt puppet Chief Justice has clearly brought shame and contempt to the judiciary and worthy of being sacked, should we all do nothing? Have the decency to resign youself, Mr Prime Minister of Corruption.

6th June 1000 - On Corruption
My one great fear is that a leader, especially the prime minister of this country will come into power through corruption. That means that corruption will be tolerated by the leadership and everyone will be corrupt. So it is very important that since Umno leaders will also become government leaders, they should be clean.

Comment: Isn't this exactly what has happened Mr. Prime Minister? You are totally corrupt and has corrupted everyone else under you. We have the corrupt Chief Justice, Eusoffe Chin and the corrupt Attorney-General Mokhtar Abdullah just for starters. Corrupt men flourish under you because they are compliant and can be blackmailed on their past. Furthermore you are also adept at protecting corrupt men like Eric Chia, Muhammad Taib and Rahim Thamby Chik. Ptui!(spit)

4 June 2000 - On Justice and Democracy
"The government will continue to uphold justice an democracy in its administration and the people will enjoy the right to freedom of speech provided it does not violate he democratic rights of others".

Comment: How can this shit filled dictator talk about justice and democracy when he has mangled the rule of law in Malaysia, destroyed the independence of the judiciary and protected the guilty and the corrupt to boot? Tell that to Lim Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim. On the other hand I'm sure Rahim Thamby Chik and Tan Sri Eric Chia loves his perverted sense of justice. As for freedom of speech there's the ISA, the Sedition Act, the Official Secrets Act and the Printing Press and Publications Act to crush whistle blowers who infringe on the democratic rights of the political elite to be corrupt.

23 May 2000 - On Privatisation
"Privatised firms must be supported and even subsidised by the government to ensure consumers do not pay too much for the services received"

Comment: In each and every case, privatised services have become much more expensive to the consumers. Privatisation has become a way for the PM's family and cronies to milk the public. To add insult to injury this shameless dog now says that that privatised entities must still be subsidised with tax payers' money. What can be the reason for privatisation if neither government nor consumers benefit from greater efficiency and cost saving? Does fatter and richer cronies take precedence over public interests?

Minimum Wage
August 8 1998 - "Malaysians would in the near future, be given a minimum wage of RM1,200 a month if the people were united with the government in reviving the economy."

May 1 2000 - "I never said that we will have a minimum wage of RM1200. I have been misquoted on this. The country cannot afford a minumum wage of RM1200 a month".

Comment: Is this a way to curry favour for votes? If the country cannot afford a minimum wage of RM1200 a month why make ridiculous promises you cannot keep? And if he was misquoted (highly unlikely) it has certainly taken a LONG time for him to correct the so-called misquote.

29 April 2000 - On Anwar's attack against the judiciary on losing his appeal against corruption verdict
"He can say anything he likes. This is a free country"

Comment: Free country did you say? What about the ISA, the Sedition Act, the Printing and Publishing Act to name a few? When practically every instrument of government, including parliament, the judiciary, attorney-general chambers, media, police, election commission, Bank Negara and the ACA have been reduced to knee-bending lapdogs of the dictator, he still calls this a free country. You cannot even gather peacefully to voice your dissatisfaction against the government, that's how free it is. Get real!

21 April 2000 - On foreigners out to sabotage Bumiputra
"Foreigners want Bumiputra firms dead. They are frustrated by their failure to take over Malaysian banks and companies during the economic downturn, and will be out to sabotage bumiputra economic recovery"

Comment: This is in really bad taste. Don't foreigners have enough problems on their hands than to plan our downfall? And why should they specially target Bumiputra? Stupid prime minister insulting our intelligence again but only succeeding in making a FOOL of himself.

17 April 2000 - On the bad foreign press reports of the April 15 demonstration
"The foreign press always paint us in a bad light. Why don't they report on demonstrators beating policemen and burning police motorcycles?"

Comment: The reason why they were not reported was because such incidents are a figment of the PM's imagination and part the shameless lies that he usually spews out.

9 April 2000 - On the planned April 15 demonstration
"Keadilan is planning a riot on April 15. They intend to beat up policemen, bring sticks, weapons and petrol bombs"

Comment: The organisers had publicly declared that it was to be a peaceful demonstration. The lack of weapons that the police found on the demonstrators show up Mahathir's blatant lies.
