SFAA UPDATE PROGRAM

Benjamin W. Dwight, in 1871, published a labor of love, entitled "History of the Strong Family", in two volumes. He dedicated these volumes to his mother "Who was very fond of recounting the names and virtues of her ancestors".

These volumes traced some of the descendants of Elder John Strong, who came to this land from Chardstock, Devon, England and other Strong families that he was unable to place.

In 1983, the board of directors of the SFAA agreed to update the Dwight Volumes, starting with the family data submitted by the membership.

Associate historians were appointed, one for each of the children of Elder John, one for Eleanor Deane, one for the Southern Strongs, one for the Unknown Strongs, one for England and Wales and one for Scotland and Ireland. The associate historians' jobs were to gather and compile the family information that had been submitted and to update what they could.

This effort was known as "SFAA Update Project" and continued until 1996. There are five volumes of update books which are now available for those who wish to purchase them.
