Obituary: LACON -- Irene E. Kuhlman, 92, formerly of 211 S. Prairie St.,
died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997, at St. Joseph Nursing Home,
where she had been a resident since September 1991.
Born Nov. 12, 1904, in rural Lacon Township, Marshall County,
to Simeon M. and Emma Carter Carmichael, she married Percy B. Kuhlman
on Feb. 28, 1924, in Lacon. He died Dec. 25, 1958. Two brothers,
three half brothers and three half sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Percy D. of Lacon; three daughters, Betty E. Medearis
of Tampa, Fla., M. Marie Jones of Freeport and Marjorie I. Grimes of Lacon;
two sisters, Helen Hardmeier of Lacon and Stella Ralston of Wenona;
14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Lacon Congregational United Church of Christ and Order
of the Eastern Star, Lacon Chapter 673, for more than 50 years.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lenz Memorial Home. The Rev. Kay Harding
will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the memorial home.
Burial will be in Lacon Cemetery.
