Countess Dracula

Ingrid Pitt as Countess Dracula

Description:

In medieval Europe aging Countess Elisabeth rules harshly with the help of lover Captain Dobi. Finding that washing in the blood of young girls makes her young again she gets Dobi to start abducting likely candidates. The Countess - pretending to be her own daughter - starts dallying with a younger man, much to Dobi's annoyance. The disappearances cause mounting terror locally, and when she finds out that only the blood of a virgin does the job, Dobi is sent out again with a more difficult task.

She survived the Holocaust. She has a daughter, Stephanie. She wrote an autobiography, "Life's A Scream."

Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia: This busty, exotic-looking actress decorated several British horror films in the early 1970s, including The Vampire Lovers (1970, as a lesbian bloodsucker), The House That Dripped Blood (1971), Countess Dracula (1972), and The Wicker Man (1973), accounting for her limited but clearly defined status as a cult figure. Perhaps more talented than she was able to display onscreen, Pitt frequently appeared in characterizations that traded mostly on her physical attributes. Other appearances include Where Eagles Dare (1969), The Final Option (1982), Hanna's War (1988), and the British TV miniseries "Smiley's People."
