Powerful cult favorite appreciated for excessive gore effects and sledgehammer techniques. Five friends go up to a cabin in the woods where they find the Necronomicon (Book of the Dead) from the Sumerian periond. Once the taped translation of the text is played, the evil is released as the recited incantations open portals to another dimension and hideous demons wreak havoc. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies and with only one remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle the evil dead.

Theresa Tilly's pseudoname Sarah York was created by "Evil Dead" director Sam Raimi, because she didn't want to use her real name in the film.
Being a member of the Screen Actors Guild, she was fined for appearing in Evil Dead, The_(1982), a non-union film.
