Description:Five demons called Cenobites are conjured up from a small, intricate puzzle box in which they are trapped to create havoc on a damaged family in England. A corpse is resurrected in the film's best sequence, then lures an old flame into a new love affair. An undercurrent of sexual perversity combined with blunt hammer murders, give Barker's story a disgusting twist. There is a terrific monster guarding the corridor to Hell, and the Cenobites suggest intriguing concepts about pleasure and pain.
Biography for Clare Higgins
After three years of drama school, she headed to Manchester and the Royal Exchange Theater. There, among her other credits, she had leading roles in the plays 'The Deep Man', 'Measure For Measure' and A Streetcar Named Desire', in which she played Stella. At the same time, she was busily carving a niche for herself in numerous BBC television plays, including "Cover Her Face" (1985) (mini), "Pride and Prejudice" (1979) (mini), 'Unity', 'Hideaway' 'Byron' and the ten-part "Citadel, The" (1983)(mini) She was also a featured regular on the English comedy series Up Line (1987) (TV). In 1984, she made her feature film debut in Horton Foote's 1919 (1985).

Everyone has a violent streak, however well they hide it, and one of the things that I think is so good about 'Hellraiser' is that Clive knows that. That kind of behavior in real life is unthinkable; in this movie, it's not. I have played nice women for seven years. This has been a wonderful change."
