History of the Wickhams   In Australia

The Wickhams were created by a top South Australian flyer by the name of Keith Wickham.Keith believed that to create a good family of birds you needed a good quality base.He then imported some high quality birds which started him in creating an unbeatable strain as we know here in Australia as the Wickhams.

The birds he imported had either bred winners or were directly of winning pigeons. These were BCC NEHU36E3086 Havenith/Logan,RCPH NURP38E 449 Gits, MC NURP39 3399 Gits/Bricoux/Sion. BBH NUHW42D 7285 Bricoux/Sion. The havenith Cock was a winner of the Irish National for the Sharrock Brothers. The Gits hen was a gift to a Mr.Morgan who won an endless amount of races with her just before he sold out to the Sharrock Brothers, who then presented her to Keith. This was the "Crack Hen" .

He then purchased from a J.Howard a RCPH NURP44A3060 Gits/Bricoux/Sion,and RCC 455322, who was reffered to as "Feather Legs".

From E.Bradshaw he purchased two more birds, BBPH NUR39F2729 Bricoux/Sion and MH NURP39F2877 Bricoux/Sion. These birds were all proven except for the "Feather Leg Cock".

He inbred an line bred these birds, and the first year most of them were kept for stock.

The next year he flew all of the youngsters off the originals.

He soon had success and then mated the best performing pair out of his team who were nestmates.

The success from then on was unbelievable putting Keith Wickham in the top Ranks of South Australian Flyers.

he won nineteen SAHPA races, and won the aggregate eight times. He was also in the list of Top Ten flyers time after time.

Anyone lucky enough to aquire Wickham Pigeons in Australia have also had great records in their racing carreers.
